Just purchases a new 2015 JK Rubicon and the passenger side is leaking at the door. If it is siting on a flat surface and the ran comes down somewhat hard you can watch the water run down the inside of the door and onto the formats.

I tested it with a hose and what I found is as the rain comes out of the rain gutter it

Anyone else having this issue? Going to take it back to the dealer but you know how it goes they never believe the customer :banghead:

So I took a video of a test I did.

BTW Google drive wont play the video so you have to download it, no idea why but I don't have time to worry about it.

Ok I forgot to finish what I was typing before I posted and I cant find out how to edit my post. So here is the rest.

I tested it with a hose and what I found is as the rain comes out of the rain gutter it follows the seal between the door jam and the frame. The seal looks to be curled up in a spot and the water is flowing into this gap. However when I look at the seal it looks fine and matches the driver door. So cant really tell if this is just a bad seal from the factory or something else.

This is a very common problem! Usually it is a combination of a defective seal, and or adjustment!
Unfortunately many do have this issue.

As for the EDIT, you just click on the EDIT, at the bottom of the page, and then re-submit. The Forum only allows this for about 30 minutes (I believe), then the option goes away. After that, only a Moderator, or Admin can re-open it, to give you additional re-editing time!

I was having the same problem with my 2014 4 door jeep. I also have a hard top, I took it to the dealer and they saw the leak all they did was replace the door seal and my problem iwas fix . they also told me that they've been seeing different kinds of hard top leaks so keep your eyes opened !

It's nice to hear the dealer was supportive and fixed your problem. Typically it's the other way around when people post about dealerships.

Same here. New 2015 I bought on Saturday. Leaked when it rained 2 days later. They fixed it, I tested, it still leaked. They fixed that and it was good. The next day it leaked at the front of both doors -forward top corner onto the A Pillar. Going back to the dealer on Friday. It's weird in that the rubber seal seems to dip in on both sides near the corner where the top meets it. It's coming in thru there.

I bought my 2015 2-dr soft top 3 weeks ago. I was living the dream driving home that night with the top down. On the second day I had it, it rained and leaked in on the inside of the driver's door at the top adjacent to the front end of the outside drip edge. This is when the dream was over and the nightmare began. I took it back to the dealer. Long story short, it has been to the dealer's Service Department 4 times (they've had it 10 out of 22 days and have had to give me 2 rental cars). They've replaced seals, allegedly ran it through their water tests, and every time they say the leak is fixed. Yet whenever the next rain comes, the same leak occurs. I've had to document everything and take videos every time it rains. The most recent attempt to fix it was replacing the corner header weather strips earlier this week. They tell me it's finally fixed. Waiting for it to rain so I can see for myself...Unfortunately I've had to study up on the lemon law. If it is still leaking the next time it rains, I'm taking it back as a "lemon". Although I love the Jeep, this nagging leak and failed attempts by the dealer to fix it has ruined the whole fun and excitement of having a new Jeep. IF I take it back as a lemon, I honestly don't know if I would want a replacement considering how many problems I've heard from others about their leak issues too...

It looks as if the outside drip edge (at the top of the door) is supposed to drain down into the seal (which is "cupped" on purpose near the end of the drip edge) on the inner edge of the door, then the water is supposed to travel down the seal and eventually out the bottom of the door. I'm sorry, but this is a horrible design! Why would they design it to purposely catch water and drain it to the INSIDE edge of the door (within the seal) to run down the seal and exit back out at the bottom of the door? For whatever reason, it's not working right and resulting in water coming in and dripping down the inside on the door and into the floor...

I've always wanted a Jeep. Finally got one. Fed up with the leak headache. Help! Any other thoughts on what to do out there? Thanks.

I'm sorry to hear of all your troubles cdb. That's frustrating as hell. I don't know why they can't fix it. I've been lucky with my 2015 but it's a hard top. My brother in law works at a Chrysler dealer and he told me they see a fair amount of jk's leaking but almost every one was a soft top. Good luck!

2015 Wrangler hard top passenger door leak too!

Hi All,

First time Jeep owner....been wanting one for the last 25 years! Got a 2015 Sport hardtop in Hydro Blue and love it....with one exception. Anytime it rains the passenger floor carpet is soaking wet! I noticed the door seal loose on the bottom and pushed it back into place thinking it was that, but no such luck. I'm in Florida and it's been fairly dry since I bought it, so I'm REALLY concerned what's going to happen during rainy season!

I'll be printing this thread and bringing it to the dealer pronto.
Will let you know how it all turns out!
Thanks!

I just had my 13' jkur in for the same thing. They told me there were five other jeeps there that day for the same reason (I live in Seattle and it's rainy season now.). They had it for one day. I looked at the job they did when I got it back ... (wait for it...) ... they smeared vaseline on the door seals. That's it. It hasn't rained since. I'm sure it'll leak again as soon as it does. Not happy with their "fix".

Try FLEX SHOT !

OK, I think I've read enough of [your] posts. I'm still not discouraged from bying a Jeep.

Here's why: I've not read any of your posts so far, that says about applying that clear sealer, like you see on TV, around the door jamb.

Then, with your roll of kitchen plastic wrap, put it on top of the sealer you just laid on, which is all around the doors, which should ideally mirror the the apparent ill-fated factory weather strip. The plastic wrap is important, as it will keep the weather strip separate from the sealer.

Make sure you've covered over the sealer, because then, you need to close the door, to "perfectly mate the sealer to the weather strip". Let it dry. Wait for rain to see if it leaks. Repeat this for any areas around your top, that may leak.

MAKE SURE ABOUT THE PLASTIC WRAP BEFORE YOU CLOSE THE DOOR!

And YES, this should make your doors even harder to close, after all is dried. And, hey, if you do it right, remember the stuff is said to last for 30 years.

Make sure the paint, onto which you apply the Flex Shot is clean, and free of wax, dirt, etc.

I want to read about one of you having tried this fix method, and see when the next rain storm comes. Also, maybe try getting in the habit of closing any air vents when you get out of your Jeep and lock it up for the day.

Now, I've only addressed the side closest to the door jamb, if you still see water coming down on the inside of the window, you may have to get creative with the stuff, but I've done similar fixes, with clear caulk, on a much older car, to eliminate wind noise, with excellent results.

I have a 2014 2dr hardtop. Yesterday it rained extremely hard all day here on long island ny. Came out of work to find the carpets under the driver seat to be soaked and the back seat cup holder to be filled with a 1/4 in of water. Weird thing is I didnt see any dripping water and the light/sound bar wasnt wet.

I had a small leak right after I got the jeep but adjusted the hard top and everything has leak free for the past 8 months. Making sure my roof was put on just the right way everytime I took it off.

I did just take the jeep in for an oil change 2 weeks ago and they did do a full "inspection" im wondering if they removed the freedom panels and did not put them back on correctly.

Anyway, I pulled out the wet carpets to dry, ill readjust the hardtop today and I'll be dropping her off Monday to get checked out.
(If wanted I loaner car, it would be 2 weeks out to get one)
Luckily I have another car to use.

I took my 2015 freedom hardtop two door Wrangler in last Friday, due to the leak in the passenger door, same location as Gathmore. It's STILL there. For what it's worth, the dealership is doing its best to fix it right.
He said they had a memo of steps for these problems (meaning they see fair amount).
First, they notched a small part of the seal to help it drain away from the interior.
Second, they realized the door was out of spec and readjusted it.
Third, they replaced the whole seal with a new one.
It still is leaking.......
Now, they're saying my freedom top seals need to be replaced (though it's never leaked from there)??
I've got only 2,800 miles on it and love it, though living in Florida, I need a dry vehicle as we get a ton of rain in the summer!
I'll let you know how it turns out,
Dave

THANK YOU! I have had problems with my passenger door for a while, 3 weeks 3 separate water appointments with the dealer. No luck, seems all they do is replace the seals, water test, then adjust the door. The original leak is gone, now it started leaking from the back. Going to home depot to do some weather strip recon

If leaking down the "A" pillar onto the floor, the easiest and most useful fix is to adjust the door. Loosen the 3 bolts on the top hinge only, push the door in 1/8" and re tighten. Fixed 95% of my leaks. I now only occasionally get one or 2 drops if it pours for awhile.

The Jeeps with Freedom Panels are considered convertibles and are notorious for leaking no matter what type of vehicle. Especially when the panels are taken off during the summer. I am currently researching info on replacing seals and the foam padding they use. And other materials. In actual all reality, you all should be discussing how to fix this and materials used, Part numbers and or where to go. And supportive documentation. Good Luck, I'm already doing it.

I had similar leaks in my 2014 unlimited sport. Same leak with both soft and hard tops. After a few frustrating trips to the dealer, a friend suggested that my doors were not properly aligned, perhaps not closing "all the way". I adjusted the door catches/latches (bottle openers). I am now leak free, my doors are visually aligned better (flush with b-pillars and rockers), and as a bonus I seem to have elimnated the door "clunk" or rattle. Also my doors seem to open and close better now, with a more comforting sound almost like my Volkswagen. I‘m sorry i have no photos or the ability to post them right now but i am sure someone else can jump in with some.

Ps. I have been lurking on this forum for a few months just soaking in all the great info and advice, and i and grateful for all of it. I hope my first post is able to help someone stay dry in thier new jeep.

How did you adjust the catches? Ive been to the dealer 3 times for leaks and water still some how works it way down the door seal and in where the A pillar meets the door sill. They said they adjusted the doors but because of the seals the doors wont close all the way (which i dont believe)

To adjust the catches just loosen the 3 torx (don't take them all the way out), move the catch up/down/in/out as needed. It takes a bit of trial and error. A lot of opening and closing of the doors and retrying was needed. I guess you'll kinda know when the door feels right. Also look at the exterior lines when the doors are closed, you'll just know when it looks and feels right. Also it looks like you might be local to me so if you want to pm me I might be able to help you out via phone/text or even in person since I'm terrible at writing clear posts
