430N question

Hi,

I have read multiple threads on upgrading the 130 sirius radio with a 430N.

I had the 430N Garmin nag in my old Ram 2500 and I loved it. Want to get one for the JK but I have one question.

Everyone talks about needing the connectivity group for a plug and play swap. I don't have that. I know you can get it separately and all, but do you NEED to?

I really don't care if it has bluetooth/u-connect (had both in my old truck and just didn't use or like it much).

So can anyone verify if I can use the RHB 430N and just not have Uconnect function but otherwise have the nav, radian, and hard drive work?

Your assumption is correct. The unit will deliver everything but the bluetooth function. You will need the nav antenna. On later models is is a combined sat/nav one.

And welcome to Wrangler Forum.

Thanks. I was pretty sure that was the case. My JKUR is a 2014 and I have the combo antenna apparently.

Now to find a decent deal on a 430N.

You may want to look more into this, I believe that Chrysler still has 2 antenna pucks.
If you don't have the 430N currently, then you may not have the combo antenna. You might only have the SAT antenna.
The radio will need to be a 2010 and newer High Speed CAN BUS unit.

If your Jeep is 2011 or newer and you currently have Sat radio, you have the correct antenna for both Sat and Nav for the 430N, provided the 430N is 2011 or newer.

I'm pretty sure it was 2009 that the sat/nav antennas were combined (maybe 2010.....my rbz came out of a 2010 T&C and it only has the yellow and white plugs).
There used to be three plugs, now there are only two.

And OP, no you don't "need" Connectivity. Just get a 430N from a vehicle that didn't come with it. Actually, I'm not sure what would happen if you got a 430N from a vehicle that did come with it. I might work just fine.

It will work fine. I did that in the missus rig. It is out of an '10 Ram w/connectivity. Kudos to XSDBS for the assist. Does not care that the BT module is not there.

Thanks for the replies. For some reason my sig didn't show up, but mine is a 2014. I had the connectivity before and just never liked it much.

Thanks again.

You do NOT need the connectivity. I'm 99% sure you need the Sirius radio though for the Nav to work just plug n play without running a satellite antenna.

I did the exact swap. 130 w/sirius and no connectivity to a 430n and it was literally a 10minute plug n play swap.
