Hi everyone I just ordered a 50 inch lightbar and cube lights for the windshield and I am wondering what the best way to wire these light up would be? I have 4 switches that go on the side of the windshield that I want to run the lights to. I am not too experienced with wiring things I have an idea what to do but just seeing what other people have done. Thanks!!
You could just wire them directly to the battery and then to the switches. Another option is to use an SPOD and wire them into that. Many guys use the SPOD since it is user friendly and has the ability to run up to six sets of lights.
The 50 inch light bar need to be on a switched relay. The switches you have is only rated for 20 amps. The light bar 25 amps. The cube lights are ok on the switch. They are only like 3 amps. They both need to be on fuses to protect the wire from melting and causing a fire if something goes wrong in the wiring.
yes. But you need to wire in relays to prevent parasitic drains. And make sure the switch can handle the amps being pulled from the light like mentioned above. If you don't, your switch is toast.
Just google how to wire up a 12v relay.
If you want to make it even easier just buy the rigid industries wiring harnesses or a cheaper brand. Although wiring it up with a relay is also easy, once you know what you're doing.
