Another decal question

I tried searching to no avail

I recently acquired a 2010 jeep jk islander edition

I hate the islander decals. My question is, if I remove them now will they leave a mark on the paint caused by the sun?

Surf blue pearl.

Being a 2014. Asuming worst case scenario which would be it was originally boghut in mid 2009 would mean that it has received 5 years of intense tropic sun here in Puerto Rico.

I am afraid that if I remove them I will make matters worst.

I wouldn't think it would leave a mark since the sides of the Jeep get much less sun than say, the hood. When I bought my Jeep, it was 4 years ond and had lived it's life in the hot Arizona sun. One of the first things I did was de-badge it and there were no marks.

Also another question is. A coupke of friends and family members have tried to convince me not to remove the decals since those are part of what represent a so called "special" edition.

If I do remove them. Would that affect resale value if I decide to sell in the future?

Or, if I decide to keep this keep on the long run, say 20+ years. Will removing the decals affect its classic value?

If you're worried about any of those scenarios, simply purchase extra decals now and save them! I debadged the Wrangler and Sport decal from my old Red Rock after 4 years and it wasn't noticeable.

Oops, I just looked up the islander edition stickers since I wasn't familiar with them and see they are on the hood. Despite that fact, I still don't think you will have a problem. As far as the resale value goes, are rou willing to have a Jeep that you don't like how it looks now to (maybe) get a few more dollers when you sell it later?

Worse case they leave a small mark and you it it with a orbital polisher and some good compound and it will be gone

Took all the decals off a couple weekends ago. A LOT easier than I even imagined. Bought a 2 dollar hair drier at Good Will. Sat out there heating it up as I went. Go slow and pull while it comes off. Used plain iso-alcohol and cotton balls to wiped off the adhesive. All done inside of 15 minutes. clean and no sign of them ever being there.

Thanks for sharing your results. I have a 2010 Mountain and will be swapping out for custom decals very soon. Glad to know it should be painless!

@adventuredad

How long had the decals been on the hood?
Any sun marks?
