^^^You have the 3.8 engine so, if you have a manual trans, then 4.88, auto trans 5.13.......

If you have the manual trans, 4.88 gears. If you have the auto trans, 5.38 gears.

The auto trans for the 3.8 has such a tall overdrive that you can't gear it too low, because they don't make gears that low. The more highway driving you do the more you need the 5.38 gears. You are trying to gear down your high gear, so you can actually use it. Your first gear is reasonable, so you don't really need that low of a gear ratio if you spend a lot of time in the lower transmission gears, such as when you are off road.

4.88 manual, 5.13 auto.

There is only 1 company that offers 5.38 for the D30 and they are hard to come by. I sell everything you need to have a gear swap.

I don't know that much about gear ratios, but I would think that your brakes would also need a up date, for larger, heavier tires!

X2.

These are the best matches particularly if you have a Sahara or Sport. I normally, prefer a notch higher than recommended but the gear teeth start getting small.

In any case, make your a choice that fit *your" needs but looking a the gear chart for the 3.8. Simple, effective and your best tool.
