So I got a set of Quadratec LED Head and Fog Lights. Got the headlights installed with ease, then moved onto the fog lights.... Well they want you to take this panel off, however the plastic screws just literally keep twisting and twisting without coming up or anything and their starting to strip because they're only plastic. My JK is a 2016 with like 2000 miles on it in case anyone thinks its the age. So does anyone have a trick for these screws or were mine maybe put in with stripped threads from the factory ??? Thanks for everyones help in advance.
drill the center out. they suck I have never had luck getting them out. some have had luck getting a pick under the screw and prying up while turning the screwdriver.
Oh ok, I'm going to stop by the dealer tomorrow and see what they say about removing it and if they have any of those parts on spare there so I don't feel as worried about removing them and then being stuck with no replacement. Thanks for your experience and help !!!
On my 2016, just used a screw driver and slowly unscrew they came out easy. The dealership is going to want between $5-7 a piece for them. Quadratic has them for $4 each. I ordered a pack of 20 replacement fasteners from "eray" for $6 total delivered from China, lol.
My car is three days old and has 140 miles on it. I was a professional car stereo installer for four years and have seen these sort of fasteners before ... these are worse. I just put a large pry bar under the plastic panel between it and the frame rail and just pried up.
I think the best solution for these is available from ShrockWorks in the form of a whole new bumper and skid plate.
