broken emergency brake

My emergency break broke the other day. My Jeep dealor tells me the part is back ordered and there are 80 needed nation wide and no date when the part will be shipped. This makes parking on hills difficult and we have hills here.

Well, in winter when parking on hills I was told to let the the jeep without the emergency break on, just on Parking position (mine is automatic), since the freezing may block the emergency break. I did that and was fine, just wondering now if that is correct.

thats correct for when it is freezing out cause your parking break will freeze while it is engaged. if its a stick leave it in first gear or if its an auto just leave it in park it wont go any where.

That's true for all vehicles.

Get a rope, tie it to a tree and then your bumper. Emergency brake problem solved.

My 06 model was a auto.
And one day, while driving to a mini mart to get a soda the gear shifter wouldn't get out of drive. It was stuck. So I skipped my soda and headed through the "bad" part of town to get to the dealership ( might as well use that warranty right... and I'm not all that car smart either). I was at a stop light and, like an idiot, tried to wiggle it around to see if it was just jammed... it slipped into park and would not budge. I ended up pulling on it so hard the top grip/button slipped off and flew into the back seat... it went into drive though :\ And I didn't touch it again until I was talking to the service tech.

Just thought I'd share my dorky Jeep story. Haha.

I guess you could always park like this if your rope is too short....
