I just received my new Hella "micro DE Halogen lamps," (#1308998).If I don't have to rewire, I would love to use the OEM wiring that's already in place. the 07 jku lamps are 42 watts I believe and the Hella's are 55 watt halogens. Has anyone done this? thanks
If you're right about the wattage...
If the original lights are 42 watts that's 3 1/2 amps. The 55 watts are about 4 1/2 amps. There should be no problem with just a 1 amp difference.
Current = Watts/Voltage
So i setup my hella 55 watt fog lights to the stock harness and when I turn on the fog lights they flash 2-3 times then 1 goes out, and the other one stays lit for perhaps 1 minute then both go out. What gives?
So i setup my hella 55 watt fog lights to the stock harness and when I turn on the fog lights they flash 2-3 times then 1 goes out, and the other one stays lit for perhaps 1 minute then both go out. I see that the Hella harness has a relay, but shouldn't the stock harness have one as well?
When I hooked my PIAA fogs up to the stock wiring, I used the wiring harness that came with the lights. I hooked it up so that the stock wiring turns on the relay for the PIAA's. Has worked fine for the past year.
I ran my KC Slims spliced right into the factory harness for the driving lights on my 2015, but had to switch out the 100w bulbs for some Hella 55w H3 bulbs. Works fine now. The 2007 might be different though...double check the stock wattage or wire in the relays maybe?
