Change my Dashboard Lights

Do any of you know if it is possible to change out the lights in the JK dashboard? I'm not feeling the love of the mint green glow, and want to see If I can get something else. I have a plan for changing the color of th lamps themselves, and was just wondering how difficult it would be to get to all of them.

Thanks

I've done a conversion on my girlfriends Scion tC. I had to take the dash apart and solder in new PC-II LED's. Turned out pretty well, I'm not sure how this same system would work on Jeeps though because of the digital electronics system (CAN-BUS), and I haven't taken apart the dash.
The complete DIY took about 35 bucks for the lights and 6 hours of soldering on a weekend.

I have done to to my Boxster. If you know what you need to change it's straight forward. Before you start you should have a diagram of the gauge or something (at least). Google to see if someone else has done it already...

Tip: don't buy the cheap Chinese led's from ebay. Give some extra $$$ and buy leds that will last (after a year I have 2 leds burned and it's a hassle to disassemble the gauge...)

I'm not sure but the place where numbers and letters are displayed in light blue may be a fluorescent display. If this is the part of the display that you want to change, I don't know that it would be possible. On a fluorescent display, the color is determined by the materials that are inside the sealed area of the display.

If you are ridiculously ambitious and good with electronics you can take apart the dash, unseal the casing, disconnect the current light set-up whatever it may be and install your own cathode, led light strip/cluster, or a fiber optic length. Then wire the leads to the illuminator toggle. This would in all likelyhood NOT work and blow quite a few systems fuses, but it would be an adventure custom job.
