Just changed the oil for the 1st time on my '13 JKUR. Now after a few miles driving, and shut off, and when I get back in the check engine light is on. It shows a code P0520. This is Engine oil pressure sensor/circuit.
I cleared code and it did come back on after I left and restarted it.
No issues with an easy oil change. Got a Mopar filter from the online Mopar parts guy on this forum (MO-744 filter).
Put 6 quarts 5-20 dino Penzoil.
It is quiet, no ticking, full on dipstick.
Any ideas?
I read on the JK-Forum where someone else had the similar problem. There is apparently a TSB the dealer should have on this. I'll see if I can find it for ya...
EDIT: That was for '08 models. If you do a search on that other forum for "Oil Light" there is a thread something like "No easy change oil light" in case you want to check it out.
It looks like you have the wrong filter in. The part number I got was for and If you have the 3.6L and I think you do. You need the CHR 68191349AA Oil filter.
Well, I swung by the dealer (not too far away) and they said there is a TSB on the Engine oil pressure sensor, (a mechanic was standing nearby and guessed it before I said what it was) and in rare cases a new oil pump. He said Jeep is good to drive and bring it in this week sometime.
You really hate to see this happen on a new engine, but that is why we have warranty.
I would ask them about possible progressive damage, due to a defective oil pump. Has this pump, been starving the engine for oil???? What other engine damage may have occurred, because of it?
Exactly- I'd be worried about doing some damage and would probably not drive it unless I had a mechanical oil pressure gauge hooked up and was sure I had good oil pressure. JMO
Same thing happened to me, prior to 1st oil change around 4000 miles my check engine light came on, took it to autozone, told me the same thing, when we pulled the code, engine oil pressure sensor. I'll be taking mine in next week.
Got mine back from the dealer today. It was just a sensor. No charge and they washed the Jeep. I was a little worried as I have a Bully Dog tuner on it. I uninstalled it and removed mount. I unplugged it and tucked it behind dash.
Now I need to reinstall it.
Just picked my jeep up after I took it in for the oil sensor, now the brakes do not work, 3 different warning lights on the dash come in plus the check engine light which is back on and was the main reason I took it in. Almost had to throw the emergency brake on when I was 100 yards from the dealer to stop. Perfectly drive able when I took it in, now it's un-drivable, not a happy camper.
