Clutch Life

How tough is the clutch in the 6sp? I have never smoked it, but I find myself riding it a bit from time to time briefly to smooth out the dump truck gearbox shifts.

I have not seen too many complaints of blown clutches so I was just wondering.

Also I have 3.73 2dr, and I find myself sometimes taking off in 2nd if it's downhill or a very gradual start (not in a hurry). It's pretty nice to not have to shift immediately, but is there any reason I should avoid this with this vehicle?

Mine is a JKUR 2013 Manual. Burnt out the clutch at 10,000 miles. Been driving sticks for 30 years and this is the first I had any problems with. Chrysler won't honor the warranty since I took it off road. Look around Google JK Throwout bearing. Number of complaints over the years about this part.

90,000 and no problems. The clutch is vented to the open air under the car. Shifting in muddy waters can significantly shorten it's life.

Seems like a mixed bag of donuts. I have been down a couple muddy roads with it, but nothing in water. I guess I will see how it works out.
