Swapping bad heater core in a friend's JKU. Ridiculous job. I'm a TJ guy. What's an insane amount of disassembly. Zero real write-ups. Can't believe this is the only heater core to go out on 2007-2015...
Anyway, coolant is pinkish/red. Mopar HOAT I'm sure. Is there any alternative (eg. Parts store brand, prestone, etc)? Zerex G05?
I used Zerex G05 (HOAT) on my '08 JKUR when I changed out my coolant. It meets Chrysler's standard. I can't help you with the swapping of the heater core but I do remember a Forum member did his heater core and took photos of the process. If I can find the link I'll post it.
I'm swapped and ready to reassemble the dash. I searched hi and low for DIY's. I ended up talking to a cool tech at a dealership, he pulled up the FSM and i verified my steps. It's really not super difficult if you're patient.
This gives some good tips, mostly regarding the engine compartment stuff (which is WAY more in depth then one would think, regarding main harness/fuse box. But he's already put back together, he's just pointing things out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3-_TwJr4XE
