Do I need to/should I re-gear

I have a 2014 JKU Rubicon. If I want to put 35's with a 2.5/3" lift, should I replace my 3.73 with a 4.10? Do I need to, should I...

Changing from 3.73 to 4.10 is a waste of money. The difference in performance is so small, you won't really notice it. It's not worth spending the sizable sum of money for not much change.

If you're going to go with a gear change, you want to consider 4.56 or 4.88.

I have 4.56 gears with a 2dr running the same engine as you on 35" tires. It was fine when I lived in the low altitude flatlands but now that I'm living in the mile high city, I find myself wishing I had just a little more. Of course, I have heavy winch bumpers but my Jeep probably still doesn't run as heavy as a 4dr.

Pretty much everyone running the Pentastar V6 who runs 4.56 or 4.88 gears with 35" tires is really happy with the performance. That's what I would recommend if you're going to change gears.

I previously owned an 08 JKU w/3.73's and 315 Duratracs on a Teraflex budget boost. I felt that in Florida, where we are 99% flat, it was fine with the old 3.8. I definitely felt it struggle when on road trips through the North Carolina mountains, but it was not horrible (If I had to drive those mountains day in/day out, the gears would be a MUST DO mod).

Now with my 14, also with 3.73's, the 315 Duratracs & 2.5" AEV lift, and more importantly the 3.6 motor....it drives great. Did I lose a little performance, sure, but the Jeep still drives fantastic and i really don't feel too much of a loss in acceleration. Eventually, after adding front and rear bumpers, winch, and maybe a roof rack, i might feel the added weight. That might prompt me to go 4.56, but for now, upgrading gears is NOT a must do mod.

Both Jeeps are Auto....

Before you do any gear swap drive on 35s for a bit to see how you like it. If you like it stay with the current gears, if you don't skip the the 4.10 and go to 4.56. And if there is a slight chance of going with 37s any time in the future might wanna consider 4.88.

Yep, you do need to re-gear!!!!!!!!
The 3.6 engine with 35's, the optimum ratio is the 4.56.....:thumb:

At the same time, the minimal additional need is to gusset the upper C, and install Heavy Duty Grease-able Ball Joints like (Synergy)!!!

Plus upgrade your track Bar bolts to grade 8 NF shouldered Bolts. Keep then torqued to 125 ft. lbs.!!!

Your wheels should be a 8", 8.5", or 9" wide with a 4.5 Back Spacing!!!

I have a 2014 JKUR 2.5 Aev 35 toyos (super heavy) and 3.73 I've been driving on them since May its doable if you don't live in a hilly area. I'm planning a regear after I find a good shop. I considered going to 4.10s but it's not worth the small jump. I'm going with 4.56. Good luck.
