Does putting in "stuffing" help Alpine Sub?

Hi guys....new member and first post! (2014 WU Altitude Blue)

I read somewhere that you can pull the various speakers (I mostly want bass) and fill the cavity with pillow "stuffing." Is this true and does it help? Also, will doing the same help with the mids above my head on the bar? I want a little more attitude with my sound but don't want to drop a lot of money....already did that for the Jeep!

The video I saw was with infinity speakers so I wasn't sure it would work with mine. Thanks for any advice.

We have developed a simple process of upgrade to the Alpine and Infinity premium systems.

There are 4 steps... The Stock Tweeter Mod, the 6032si sound bar upgrade, the subwoofer replacement mod and the subwoofer amp add on.

You can use the links in my signature to read the MANY pages about these upgrades. They are very inexpensive and quite effective.

I stuffed mine on my 2014 rubicon and it probably helped a little it was easy and took 5 minutes so if you have a pillow ripped open may as well do it.

The Poly-fil essentially makes the sub act as if it were in a larger box than it really is. You will be hard pressed to find a subwoofer in a car (or most sealed subwoofers, and lots of vented designs) that wont benefit from a slightly larger box, which will lower the Qtc. Its a good thing.

Does poly-fil help? Yes, a little bit. Just don't over do it, nor expect mass improvements. The science behind polyfil is basically to slow down sound waves, thus making the speaker act as if it were in a slightly larger enclosure. The side benefit (IMO) is that polyfil helps dampen the harshness (think hollowness) of plastic enclosures as well.
