Does the 2012 Jeep JK have a cabin filter?

I have a 2012 Jeep JK Sport S. Does that model have a cabin air filter?

Thanks...

Mike

Edit: Okay, it does...

As you've found, it has the cage but doesn't come with a filter. You an install one following the video you found. I installed the Napa filters in mine last spring using the same video.

I have a 2013 Wrangler 2D Sport and found this thread and a few others that pointed to the same video. I also purchased the Napa filter referenced in the video and it fit perfectly.

Prior to buying the Napa filter I called the dealer to see if they had them in stock and the tech needed my VIN "as they all don't have cabin filters". Anyway they said there was a recent not that now included a part number but also said that a "door" was also required. I asked if it showed a picture and it didn't. They also did not have them in stock. BTW my 2013 looked exactly like the video, so it has the mesh doors that are clipped closed.

Anyway, does anyone know what the dealer may be talking about with respect to a door required?

I also have a 2013 JK and I put the filters in about 2 weeks ago. I don't think your dealer knows what they are talking about. There is no "door" required. Pull out your glove box and check it out. Put your key into the ignition and turn the accessories on. Turn your AC to recirculate and you will be able to see into the area where the filters go. There are two little hatch doors that you un-latch then slide in the filters. Then close them and you are done. I purchased mine on Ebay for $16.60 and they fit perfect.

Thanks, like I said in my post, I bought them and installed them. I was just wondering if anyone knew what the dealer might be talking about. I'll check ebay for the next set as that price is about $8 less than I paid.

Yes.

It's behind the glove box.
The filters are two little ones that go in side by side.

Call me crazy but I'm not seeing how a cabin air filter will do much of anything when the top is down.

It will keep the evaporator and heater coils clean.

Just installed them on Friday before my weekend trip to GA. Cut the pine pollen injestion into the cabin way down when running with the a/c on. Nice cheap mod.

Awesome! Will install tomorrow. I never would have thought about about how the "guts" would be there regardless if one ordered the auto-climate option or not. Thanks

IS that for 2 filters or 4? They show 4 in 1 pic and 2 and a box in the other.

My 2013 had two paper elements behind the glove box. None of my other vehicles have them, so when the got plugged, I just removed them. If I am in dusty conditions, I just keep the recirculate door closed! It's easy to block it off.

Recirc only keeps the dust out temporarily. As soon as you turn it off, all the dust comes spewing in. I used to do this on trail rides. Put it on recirc, follow 15 other Jeeps on a dusty trail for a few hours, turn off recirc and crank the fan up. You get a nice big puff of dust for a few seconds out of all the vents. I finally went and bought the filters and don't have that problem anymore lol.

^I blocked the door closed, so it can't open to the outside vent, therefore no dust can enter. The switch no longer controls it!

Yes, the filters are needed, if you don't block off the outside air!

The answer is...it depends. If you get auto temp controls, then, yes it comes standard with the filters. If you get the standard controls, then it doesn't come with it, but the sport for the filters is there and they can be easily installed.

Note all this applies to 2011+ only. 07-10 had a different system with no auto temp option, and no provision for filters.

pretty ridiculous
