I noticed front pinon had the stain and spitting on fender walls... Installed lift and decided to take the front ds off and behold fluid... Not a lot but enough to start leaking while engaged... So the question is when I replace it this weekend is there anything else I should look at? And is this normal with a 12 jku d30 with 40k on it.. Thanks for all the answers before hand
You might consider replacing the bearing while you are in there. Don't forget some seal lube and proper torque is critical. There are several ways of achieving if you've researched it or done it before.
Yeah been looking up different ways not sure on the best way... Engine guts and simple tasks I love doing... Anything with diffs transfer case or trans I'm worried about screwing things up...
look at tom woods, adams, etc instructions for replacing a driveshaft, they all require removal of the stock flange which is essentially what you are doing, and nobody ever pulls the diff to measure pinion preload when they put on an aftermarket shaft. I wouldnt replace the bearing without measuring actual pinion preload which would require pulling the whole diff out. bearings will be fine at 40k, my trucks bearings are at 323,000
