Looking for info on the Edelbrock supercharger for a 2015 JKR.

Talked with Edelbrock and they are still working on an ECU tune and keep telling me that its a few months out.

I ran into a guy in Moab for EJS that said he had done an install in a 15 without issues but I didnt get details and have no idea who he was. (Cool white JKUR with lots of decals and he was packing heat)

Anyone have more info on a successful install in a '15 (or '16)?

Hi There,

If you are in a non CARB law state then you can buy edelbrock kit without the tuner.

Get a Diablosport Trinity and marry that to your vehicle. You can send the backup file to an email tuner like Diablotoona. He is ex-diablosport and does tunes by email. I worked with him so he has a good tune for the Edelbrock based off of my rig.

Diablotoona

DO NOT RUN YOUR VEHICLE AFTER INSTALLING THE KIT WITHOUT UPDATING YOUR SOFTWARE OR THE MOTOR WILL SOUND LIKE A CAN OF MARBLES AND GO BOOM.

I am in California so needed the CARB EO number so bought the kit with their included (SCT X4) to get the sticker plus their base tune. I married the trinity to the Jeep after installing the SCT and Edelbrock tune so that I could create a backup of that. I sent that to Diablotoona then backed out the Trinity and then the SCT X4. After that, I remarried just the trinity to the Jeep and am running just with that now. I had to send him a backup of my stock tune first but you don't need to run the engine for that.

last chat with Edelbrock they still state that they have not "cracked" the 15 computer on the JK.
I hear that others have.. not sure why they would still be having problems.

What is bad about buying the SC without the tune is that you have no warranty at all. .neither from Edelbrock or FCA if anything happens...

personally I want a warranty from one or the other.. Especially since I have had a SC lose part of the rotor (no not an Edelbrock SC), I did the purchase without the warranty because it was I had to wait a bit longer for the tune to get the warranty..
I still ended up with a custom tune and would have done the same even if a warranty came with the SC.
The Tune was awful.. rarely do the tunes that come with an SC work well enough to keep running long term..
I would always have the rig run on a Dyno to "fine tune" you system

Here's the rub.. it's not Edelbrock who have not cracked it - it is the tuning platform on which they have standardized. Edelbrock uses the SCT tuner and tuning software (on their end) to write the tune files.

At least two vendors have a way to tune 2015+ vehicles. Diablosport and HP Tuners. In both cases, you have to send your PCM in to them to get cracked and then your warranty is void. SCT Flash is just behind the curve here and so are any vendors that have standardized on them.

The SC vendors that have a solution for 2015+ Jeeps are using Diablosport CMR tuning software on their end and either a Trinity or an Intune tuning device on your end. I *think* the folks working with HP Tuners can write a tune for any of the devices but the 2015+ PCMs still need to be cracked.

Edelbrock could probably use HP Tuners on their end (if they don't already) and then work with them and their 2015 PCM cracking program. Diablosport CMR software may write the tune file in the same format and may be usable with the SCT X4 as well.

Will at OverKill Motorsports claims Pentastar expertise. He does tunes over the internet and resells Diablosport devices as well as HP Tuners software and devices.

What sort of warranty would you expect from FCA? With a cracked PCM, I think 2015+ folks don't get much in terms of FCA warranty. I know about Magnusson Moss but still. You are going to have to prove/demonstrate that a failure was not due to the blower or tune.

I would prefer HP as I have used for several years myself.. diablo not so much..

I still have the rest of my 100k drive train warranty so getting Edelbrock to warranty the SC and motor as they do for the 14 I would prefer.
Once I SC the rig I know there is no warranty what so ever left on mine..
I have made far to many changes to expect FCA to warranty much of anything but the motor, trans and Transfer case at this point and an SC would change that..
I don't give away a warranty without good reason. .. that is the same reason I still put pig piss in my 14 ram..
FCA will laugh at you (and rightly so) if you walk in with a blower on your Jeep and claim it had nothing to do with your engine failure.. or trans for that matter.. once you modify you void your warranty.. yes the mag-moss is one thing but if there is any connection to the damage and a mod you will almost always lose...

edit...
I do agree others have cracked the 15 computer.. and done quite well with I hear.. but until Edelbrock is happy I will just be patient and wait a bit longer.. it is something I can live with or without.. It is my DD not racing.. would like to see how the power is at sea level instead of 6000 feet.. should be a decent increase.. (10 percent) not huge but better

^^ totally agree...

A lot of people misunderstand the Mag-Moss act. It is there basically to have manufactures tell you what the warranty is in writing and so that they can not force you to use there products for maintenance...like there oil, there filter.

The Mag-Moss act does NOT protect you when you start to add so called mod's to the vehicle. A manufacture can void your warranty and they will, when mod's are in place. If you install a lift...you are done with suspension warranty and drive line and transfer case warranty. The lift most likely will not effect the engine or transmission warranty unless FCA proves the lift was the cause. Bolt on a Super Charger or even a cold air intake or a ECu tune...you are done with engine warranty.

I've dug deep on the Mag-Moss act and vehicle warranty's over the years along with many friends in the sports car world. I had a Porsche 2009 Carrera S that developed a crack on the weld at the drivers side cat. The Cat was part of the header. Porsche denied the warranty due to a cat back exhaust system. I scheduled a meeting with the Porsche Zone manager and he explained Porsche's stance on this like all other manufactures that how the cat back system changed the exhaust temp, fitment and so forth and the weld cracked. A Porsche header with cat was over $1000 installed.

Keep in mind that your warranty is NOT with the dealer...it ultimately is with FCA

I was thinking about a Magnuson but learned that the stock oil filter can't be used. Edelbrock appears to have designed around that so seems like a better set-up. I would have thought they cracked the PCM's by now. Any updates on this would be appreciated.

I talked to Edelbrock the other day and they still do not have a complete package for the 15+ Wrangler. I was told that it would be the end of the year. I was also told back in April that it would be 2-3 months and then again June. If you want an Edelbrock, you are going to have to get a cracked PCM and custom tune. Which is the route we are going for now.
