We'll the latest is........ They got a few codes from my JK and had to send them to the factory . One of the codes is related to the "head" issue that I've read about on this forum. I am still eating for the final word from the dealer.

......bad news is they will probably have to eventually replace the head....
.....good news, i had mine done at 15000 miles and now at almost 36000 miles i've had no further problems with the replacement.

now, if they could only fix the tire pressure monitor....

Well, the dealer says the codes were related to the head replacement issues BUT, the factory is not requesting head replacement yet. They advised the dealer to "monitor" my JKU as I bring it in for regular service..............

You need a new head, but you may have to wait for another code. The original code is for a misfire on the 2/4/6 cylinder bank due to an incorrectly designed cylinder head. The code is triggered if you get N misfires within a certain time period.

They just updated your jeep with the "fix", which is that now the code only pops up if you have something like N*5 misfires in a certain time period. (the 5 is a guess.) The code will come back. Good luck!

Going through this right now. Part ordered and they will have my jeep for a few days. I heard the words "open up your engine" and I went into total girl mode...cried. I'm so afraid of once they mess with my engine it will never be the same

Run engine util you get misfire code.

Ok so here is what they did to my 2012 with 14+k miles on it. Engine Light checked, took to dealer, came back and said that number one head miss firing. See picture for dealer work order of what was done. Plus replace missing end cap from bottom henge of right rear door, plus new radio because AUX was shorting out. All covered under warranty. Took it in on Monday morning got it back washed on Thursday night.

Now that the repairs have been made I am now getting 16.5 miles to gallon in the city from the lie o meter. That's a whopping three miles to the gallon improvement.

Just my two cents worth.

Still waiting for the parts to come in. I hope this won't cause my engine to blow.

It will actually be better. I wouldn't be concerned about it. They've operated on a lot of JK's with this problem.

19,000 miles on my 12 and they replaced the drivers side head. Only put around 200 miles since but seems to be good. Time will tell.

head

Stupid question, I got a 2012 JKU, keep seeing these posts on the "head" issue...I have a little over 11,000 miles on it...Besides the CODE showing, are you feeling anything wrong while driving?? What's the engine doing when this let's loose??...I have no issues at this point but want to know what I sould be feeling or looking for.

Things I noticed first thing gas mileage getting worst less then 11 miles to the gallon. Second thing I noticed was what sounded like rattling or running ruff under the hood. Third thing was manual that the gear shift bounced more then normal.

I've got a '12 wrangler and just brought it in to the dealer for the check engine light, and cylinder misfire. They said that the left cylinder head needs to be replaced. They told me chrysler redesigned them so the issue shouldn't happen again. I've heard of a handful of people with this issue for the '12. Wondering if this issue will pop up again after the warranty runs out or if the redesign legitimately fixes the issue.

From what I understand the AC head is the fix. But I don't know anyone who has logged 100K miles with an AC head yet. I'm pretty confident they resolved the issue.
