flushing out my cooling system?

ok guys I'm relatively new here, and just brought my 97 wrangler home Saturday before the hurricane. As posted before, one of my problems was the charging system was not up to par, so I purchased a new battery first when I was bringing it home, which completely drained thru my 25-30 min drive home...I pulled it with my 4x4 nitro the last mile or so...
Ok fastforward to today, Today I purchased a 85 amp used alt from my local wrecking yard, and installed it tonight, along with removing my old lame radiator and I also purchased a new (made in china) one to replace it with. My question is this, how do you guys suggest to flush this old system before installing my new radiator, and coolant.......I purchased one of the prestone cut your heater hose line flush kits...is this sufficent?
thanks in advance...

ok I have the alt installed, but the charge gauge is still showing discharging??? I hooked my multimeter to the positive and negative side of the battery with it idleing, and it shows a steady 13.83 volts... according to this, I would say the battery is charging, wouldnt you say????

in the mean time, I installed the new radiator, and started flushing the cooling system by installing the water hose into the neck of the bottem hose that goes to the water pump....after it heated up to over 240 degrees, I still have nothing flowing out of the top hose...therefore I guess its ok to say that the thermostat is bad....removing the thermostat, and I have one on the way to install....with new gasket....
Hopefully this will have me up and running, as I plan to drive it to my sons football game in the morning...
wish me luck...

You might get more replies on this if you posted it in the TJ Forum (1997-2006 Models), this one is for discussion of the JK Jeeps. (2007-2008 Models)

If you contact a moderator he might move it for you.
