I need your help. I managed to get into a bit of a fender bender with my 2012 Sahara, 2DR. Actually, I was stopped and there was a jerk driving a huge truck in front of me who didn't quite move when the traffic did, and I hit my gas ever so slightly and---whack--my front bender, right corner, took the hit. It's really not too bad, but I want to get it replaced. Gal here, so don't quite know what I need. I went to an auto body shop and he gave me a quote for a brand new front end. Even I know that's excessive. Can you give me some advice? Anyone in Chicagoland who can help me with this (and putting on stronger headlights)? I'll pay you for your labor and time, of course.
I am open to another bumper, something stronger. Just need someone to help me figure it out. Thanks!
Most folks get that dimple out on the trail. You might try a hair dryer for a half hour and see if you can pop it out. Theere are better options in steel for your Jeep. Mopar makes on that is a direct bolt up. Plenty of other makes out there. I just put a Savvy Off Road aluminum stubby on my wife's rig. That thing was a lot of work though.
We are on the left coast. Hopefully someone local will chime in soon.
Your wife is very lucky! Thanks for your thoughts. I'll do a google search and see if I can find steel. I love the one Permafrost posted too. Just gotta find a mechanic-type now. Are there no handy dudes on here from Chicago Northern Burbs?
Many try and sell their stock bumpers after replacing with aftermarket, then realizing they really have no value, just give them away. Some one here will have one for free.
Stay tuned.........
Thanks for offering me hope, gatorwesty. I am awaiting anxiously. I hate driving my baby the way it is now. It's so cute, but the little dimple takes away some of the appeal!!
That looks amazing. I am sold! I now just need to find someone who can help me. I would love to learn how to do it, but they lost me at "requires cutting"
The jerk had a huge milk/UPS type truck. The lanes merged and he was to let me in because it was one on each side taking their turns. Guess what he did? Yes, cut me off. The next driver had road manners and let me merge. Thus, when traffic moved, the a-hole in front of me didn't. You see where I took the hit, right? Not a direct, but to the side. This is why some people have road rage and want to knock off others. This jerk was clearly making up for a small part elsewhere.:atomic:
Permafrost, you rock!! Thanks, I just watched the video. If I can find those tools, I'll definitely try it. That was easy - I am sure I can do it too!! Thanks so much!!:iamhappy:
