Gas tank filling issue

Good morning. I'm wondering if anyone else is having or had this issue. Anytime I fill up, the pump doesnt shut off and I dont know its full until the gas is pouring back out of the fill. It doesnt matter what[station or pump I use. Thoughts?? thank you

That sounds very odd. The auto shutoff is built into the pump handle, shouldn't really matter what you put it into.

Are you in the U.S.?

I know the TJ's had this issue. There is a GM replace part that corrects the problem. It has to be trimmed but there is a write up on this forum. This fixed my problem.

not sure if it is the same fix for the JK.

There's a TSB out on the issue, on certain years it's not a recall but has an extended warranty and will be covered for repair. I don't remember the details but I believe it had to do with a valve at the tank, I think the entire tank and filler neck needed to be replaced. Search around a bit and you'll find the details, I don't remember them off the top of my head.

This is the TSB. If you have an 09 + the dealer can charge for the repair. There's an updated fuel fill tube that incorporates a check valve. Chrysler no longer recommends a tank replacement to the dealer as a fix.

I am getting a new gas tank today on my 14 due to the same issue. Apparently my vent valve is stuck.
