Last night my CEL came on. Got the dreaded P0306 code. I have noticed a bit more ticking recently but wasnt worried until the CEL came on. Its got just under 28,000 miles so I guess mine lasted longer than many others. Its going in today and im hoping they dont try to give me the run around, and just replace the head. 3 heater cores, a radiator and now the cylinder head.. but I still love my jeep...

That sucks! I have a 2012 with 13k that has thrown the PO302 code 3 times in last 3 months. Keep putting off taking it in. I dread dealing with dealerships on crap like this. Usually give you line of crap. Instead of just admitting it's a piece of s*^$! Sounds like you have had more than your share of problems. I have had vehicles for over 50 years and NEVER had to have an engine torn in to. I had two Jeeps prior to Chrysler taking over and had 0 issues.

It does suck. I made the dealership aware of the fact that I knew of all the head issues they are having and that I pulled ths code and knew exactly what the problem was, in hopes that they wouldnt try to insult my intelligence by b.s.ing me. I even printed out a bunch of forum threads showing all the people that are having the same problems and the error codes they are getting. Im trying not to give them too much room for arguing even though they have been good in the past.

Great news! I think by now the head issue is so well enough known throughout the Jeep dealers that it shouldn't cause too much trouble with warranty claims. I have a 2012 with 19,500 miles on it and so far it's been flawless. Hope I got lucky!

I got my jeep back yesterday just as the dealer promised. It runs great and is so much quieter. I have only put on about 75 miles since I got it but notice a considerable improvement. The dealerships have the head replacement thing down after doing so many. I'm hoping it continues to run as well as it does now.

Hey man, that is sad, but at least warranty will cover the costs!
