Hardtop audio jumper idea

As a lot of you know, in hardtop equipped Jo's it's possible to avoid the factory audio volume limiting feature by putting a jumper between the ground and the purple/ white wire, so I always wondered if my soft top jk would do the same, but I don't have a hard top harness, so I traced the purple white wire all the way (through the add on harness install sheet) to the front instrument cluster connector c pin 18, anyway my plan is to jumper this pin to the ground, my question is this in theory should work, however can any of the canbus/ electronic gurus give me their input before I do anything I might regret...

I know this was posted over a month ago but I was going to mention my experience with this. I'm new to Jeep's having just purchased a 2010 jk. After lurking around the forums for a few months and reading the mixed results, I decided to try it on my softtop. I also traced the wires back to the cluster as I don't have a hardtop plug. I had previously installed the mopar kicker speakers and a kicker sub to replace the factory infinity speakers. After jumping the wire, I didn't immediately notice any difference but I definitely noticed a change when I was driving and turned everything up. Music was louder at lower volume levels was what seemed to be my result. Actually I wad no longer able to turn it up over 30 without the sound seeming distorted. The soundbar was louder and seemed to be more full frequency than before but still was nowhere close to as loud as the fronts. I know it's not scientific but just my observation.

in a nut shell when you pull off the hard top an audio limiter comes into the circuit limiting the systom output so as not to disturb the neighborhood.

its in the wiring harnes that you unplug from the hard top and you can fool the system by jumpering after unplugging.
I was wondering what this was about. At first I thought it was a fix to allow the soundbar speakers to not be inhibited by the amp/stereo (whatever) compared to the front speakers. Disappointed. I heard that they were intentionally kept at a limited level because it would make the soundbar rattle otherwise.
