Having trouble with adding remote start

I installed just the dball and CHTHD2 for remote start, but it will not remotely start. It gives me a seven red blinking code, which is a error code for safety switch is on. Which it's not, I tried switching it back and worth still no luck. Everything else work fine (unlocking and locking). I haven't wired any of the other wire to anything. Do I need to? My safety switch and hood pin wire came loomed together and plugs into the dball.

Where does the lead from the safety switch go? it is loomed into the hood pin but appears to have another lead.

It appears that way, but it is wired to the switch and a plug on the other end which plugs into the 10 spot on the dball. I used a test light at the pin and it shows ground when in the on position and no ground in the off , so the switch is working properly. I think I have a ground problem in my harness or a bad dball..

This may be more like what I have. Everything is loomed up so I really can't tell which diagram I have. the only things I connected were the Y harness to the ignition switch under the steering wheel and the plugs into the dball.

Either that or the 4 plug is wired incorrectly.

Is the hood pin installed? I installed the DBALL and a remote start on my JK but didn't use the hood pin. I wired the neutral safety switch to ground and got it to start with the switch in the right position. It's been a few years but I remembered being confused by the apparent incorrect directions. I believe it was the opposite of what made sense to me. Try taking the hood pin out of the equation to test the switch.

Thanks Doug, the hood pin is just a white/ black wire, it's not connected to a hood pin. It has a black like heat shrink tubing on the end of it.
When you say you installed a remote start, did you actually have to buy a remote start? I think my jk is RSR (remote start ready). I taking that as it's all ready there I just need to add the dball. Correct ?

Thanks for the reply

***update***. I flashed my dball again, hooked everything back up and worked perfect. The safety switch doesn't even have to be plugged in. But I plugged in and will utilize the safety switch.

ok i just bought a 09 jk and it dose not have the remote start on it. would like to add it.
1. what do i need to buy for this to work?
2. is there a factory type kit for it?
3. is it easier to just do a remote start alarm and by pass the factory alarm etc…

i have installed stereos and alarms in other cars so i don't have a issue doing electrical type things just wondering what i need to get to do it on a jeep

I just bought this and it works perfect. Only thing is that the lights don't stay on to tell it is running and there is no hood pin safety switch. It does beep the horn quickly after it starts to let you know its running. Can't go wrong for $100 and a ten minute install.

Was the rsr an option or do they all come that way? I'm still in d1 but was thinking of adding one when (if) it ever gets here.

Watched the youtube install video (done on a Patriot). Seems really really easy.

Was it that easy? Did it plug and play just like the video said it would?

Thank you.

Plug and play. I actually took more time doing my patriot then my Wrangler. The patriot required a torx and Phillips head, just Torx in the jk
