Hawse fairlead with a steel cable?

I know, I know, the aluminum gets eaten up with the steel cable, but from an aesthetic standpoint, the rollers just bother me. Do I have to live with this setup or do they make a hawse fairlead that you can use in conjunction with a steel cable?

They make a steel Fairlead that's hawse and meant to work with steel cable. Not sure how soon you need it, but I'll have one soon from my winch when it gets here, you're welcome to it because I'm swapping to synthetic and using an aluminum Fairlead.

That would be awesome! Obviously in no rush. Just PM me the amount you want for it.

Steel fairleads are usually painted and not as attractive looking as aluminum fairleads. I wouldn't try using an aluminum fairleads with a steel cable. I had a steel fairlead on my warn winch when I had steel cable and the cable would gouge it pretty good as it went over it on a pull. I imagine a steel cable would saw right through aluminum on an actual pull.

You're talking about steel hawse fair leads, right? I would assume they don't look as good in comparison to aluminum from a smoothness aspect, but I can live with it for now. I guess I could also take a steel hawse and have it powder coated or sprayed with something super durable in an attempt to have a durable finish.

Yes, steel hawse fairlead not rollers.
Whatever you paint it with will be worn to bare metal by the cable when you do a pull. Mine wasn't powder coated but I can't see that holding up much better. That cable under tension is an amazing grinder.

I'm sure it is. I wonder why Warn, Superwinch, and other com sonics offer a hawse with some of their steel cable setups then.

It works fine and takes less space than rollers. It just doesn't look pretty.
