Heat/Air Selection?

Not a tremendous issue, but one thing I've noticed in the last week that I've owned my JK is that selecting where the heat/air comes out can be a little irritating. I've mulled around and can't seem to find the answers I'm looking for. When I jump in and start the Jeep, it doesn't seem to matter if the selector is already on the floor setting or not, it always blows out of the dash mounted vents. The only way I've found to direct it only to the feet is to rotate it all the way to full defrost, let the blend door cycle, and then adjust to floor only. Is this common across the board, and something I'll just have to deal with? Or does someone have a little insight into what could be wrong? Jeep is a stock 2013 Wrangler Sport. Thanks for any input!

I'm not overly thrilled with the climate controls on my 2013 Sport S either. Not same issue as you, but rotating temp knob doesn't change temp consistently, and rotating knob that controls flow is also inconsistent.

Got a call from the service manager at the local dealership this morning, they said they reprogrammed the climate controls and this should resolve the problem. Haven't picked it up yet to see if this is true or not, but if so this could potentially be done to make yours more consistent. Good luck with the fix!

Not sure if mine is having an issue or not, just got it not too long ago - when I get it in seems to blow out of the floor only for about 10 seconds, then it switches to whatever I have the controls set to. After initial change, I have no problems changing anywhere else.

My 2013 had the issue too. First the dealer reprogrammed or updated mine as mentioned. That was all BS and fixed nothing even though they said it was fixed. It would not work right there in the dealer lot when I picked it up. They finally replaced the dash control unit and that fixed it. It's not a matter of "delay" in switching, as it never gets around to doing what is asked. Mine was the control unit with the knobs and it's been fine with the new one.

Interesting that we are being told it's programming or updating, and having to make two trips. Be sure to test it out when you pick it up.

Took mine in yesterday for speed sensor failure on left rear. They fixed that, but also did an update on the hvac. No a/c problems before the update, now the defrost light keeps flashing when first started, it goes out and acts normal when I rotate the air selection knob.
