Quote from the website....
"The exterior heated power mirrors that were introduced to the 2011 model-year Jeep Wranglers could cause smoke or fire due to a defect, according to Chrysler and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Due to the potential defect, Chrysler is recalling certain model year 2011-2013 Jeep Wrangler vehicles manufactured February 16, 2010, to July 19, 2013."
Includes mine too but I probably won't see anything in the way of a recall until I drive the Jeep onto the lot with the mirrors on fire. In Canada these notices seem to get lost in the wind.
There will be a little "defrost" symbol on them, They come on when the rear window defroster switch is on. That's why even soft tops have the rear window defrost active.
Got mine too....lets just hope they make this available in Guam where my Jeep is currently headed, and that they don't BS me when I roll up with my doors off, and mirrors in hand.
I had my oil pressure switch replaced about a month ago, at my Dealer. I asked them about this recall, and they weren't even aware of it's existence!!!!!!!!!
Great communications, between Chrysler/Jeep and their Dealers...
I already have heated mirrors, maybe this is the super heated mirror option. Hey, wasn't there was a movie with a motorcycle like this, wonder if he had a recall...
I guess they send another notice when the parts are in.
The recall is only 2011-2013 so they must have been aware of the problem and decided to drag out the recall.
The light on my rear defroster/mirror heater button started blinking about 6 months ago for about 30-40 seconds when I turn the engine on. I wonder if this is part of the problem.
I assumed it was related just to the AC control panel or CANBUS. My JK kicks and screams every time I approach the entrance to the dealer shop, so I was waiting for something more critical to go though the exercise.
My recall notice came today. The note explains that the dealer can remove the fuse for the heated mirrors for you if concerned. I had a 1994 YJ for 18 years without heated mirrors and survived so I will pull the fuse myself.
Looking at the manual, the heater fuse is a red 10A in space M35 in the fuse center under the hood. It is separate from the rear window defroster fuse, a 40A, so removing it will not affect that feature.
I'll wait until I need some additional maintenance before I take it in for the recall. I am more concerned about what taking the doors apart to fix the issue will do than the recall.

Got my notice in the mail, but as stated in notice no fix as of yet but they can disable power to mirror and will send additional notice when fix is available.
Just received mine in the mail and once again.Only solution is to have the dealer pull the plug on it and no sure fix for it.Pretty bummed.Once I go in for an oil change and tire rotation I will probably tell them to just pull it rather then risk me being incinerated.
I just went in and pulled the fuse last night with the little yellow tool that's included the box. It was a bit hard to read on the cover which 10A red fuse was M35 but I figured it out. I was going to post a pic of the location but I see that it has already been done.
I will patiently wait for the recall parts to come in. Here in the St. Louis winters, heated mirrors are useful and we paid for them. I either want it fixed or to be reimbursed for the cost of heated mirrors.
Finding the red 10A fuse is much easier if you look for the position of M35 in your User Guide.
My Manual is a 2013. Page 118 confirms that M35 is for the heated Mirrors.
Page 115 will show you the location of the Red 10A M35 fuse.
Viewing it from the passenger side fender, it is in approx. the middle of the box, favoring the left slightly.
The position of the Fuse, is applicable to the 2013 Fuse Block. This may vary by year!
Trying to read the fuse box lid schematic, is somewhat harder to see.
