What makes you want to replace your current setup? I am big proponent of not fixing what isn't broken, especially when it is a relatively expensive fix. If what you have works for you, which it sounds like it does, enjoy it.
On the other hand, I have a JKU HR and run the Teraflex HD hinge and tire carrier. No rattles, no squeaks, and it holds my Salta and 35" KM2 safe and sound so far. I would buy it again in a heart beat.
Honestly, I wanted to keep the HR bumper on, but swapped it out cause I saved my Ebay one from when we traded in, plus I knew it could carrier all 4 rotopax.
But since I have a hard bed cover I built, I can mount the water and 1st aid there. Just need a place for 2 fuel ones.
I agree not mess with anything if its not broken... maybe Im just bored cause its winter time and want to do something to the Jeep:lmao:
Still like the look of a clean back end and the simplicity of the Teraflex carrier
We have great pricing on the teraflex hinged carrier and it would look awesome With the HR bumper. Let us know if we can help out at all. Also we have never had a complaint about the hinged carrier.
when have you actually needed extra fuel? I have wheeled all over moab, and rubicon trail and dusy ershim etc and never needed fuel. I did carry extra fuel when I did the dusy because many people said it was necessary but I ended up with plenty of fuel and never came close to needing to add any. I had the TF rotopax set up but sold it. When I did the Dusy this is how I carried extra fuel but like I said it was not needed. so unless you really are going long offroad or to the outback or just like the look go cheap like this.
I will honestly say, No I have not needed fuel on any of our treks.
But I don't mind being prepared.. either if something broke on the Jeep and for some stupid reason, it took longer to get back or needed to just keep the engine running for comfort purpose until help showed up.
Plus you never know if you run across someone on the trail that THEY ran out of fuel.
Bottom line, I have the components, still want to carry them when needed.
And granted, probably one Rotopax is way more then needed, just hate to not carry the other since I have it.
Now, they are saying you can't mount 2 to the HD carrier, it just will effect how far you can open your tail gate. So that being said.... How far are limited in opening with 2 RP on the outside? 45*? more or less?
I like my Teraflex carried but when I mount my high lift to the accessory it throws my SWR reading off. Because of that I put the high lift under the back seat
I've been using the TF hinge & tire carrier for about 3 years. No complaints except a little of the powder coating has flaked off near the hinge. (Not a big deal to me). I use Vector Off-Road Rotopax mounts if I feel I want to carry fluids outside of the jeep.
I have never needed extra fuel but this past summer I was at the top of Black Bear Pass when an older gentleman and his grandson were there with their stock Chevy pickup and he needed gas because his fuel light was on. I wasn't carrying extra gas & we couldn't syphon it out either because the filler neck prevents the hose from getting to the fuel in the tank. We felt bad we could help him.
I totally agree.... but how far can you open the tail gate, before smashing the tail lamp.
If I can get it open more then 45 degrees open... Ill probably go with it. Remember, its for traveling, so have to get luggage and cargo out of the back
Let us know if we can help you out with that. We are a Maximus-3 dealer.
