Help me decide - 295/70/17 or 285/75/17 Nitto G2

For the life of me I can't make up my mind.

I have made the decision to get my JKU some new shoes and a lift. I am looking at both, 295/70/17 and 285/75/17. I understand the 285 will be taller and narrower. Loaded, I would like a tire which measures as least 33". I would like to emphasize I have no interest in a 35" tire.

The 2 setups I am looking at:
1. 295/70/17 Nitto G2 Or 295/70/17 Hankook ATM with either the RK 1.5" stock mod or RK BB

2. 285/75/17 Nitto G2 with 2.5" RK stock mod (or even the 1.5" stock mod).

Vehicle usage will be 80% DD. I have a 2015 Auto w/ 3.73 gears. Not looking to re-gear, probably ever.

I've researched as much as my brain can take. If you have a rig with a similar setup, please post up a pick. Any and all advise is MUCH appreciated.

What are you going to do for wheels? Did you consider the Toyo AT2s in 285/75/17 as well? I prefer the skinnier tire on a Wrangler, I had both 285/70/17s and 315/70/17s on my '12 JK auto with 3.73s performance was fine for me with both sizes but I preferred the 285s in the snow and wet.
I plan on putting 285/75/17s Toyo AT2s on my '14

The Toyos are on a year backorder. Go figure. They were my original choice.

you better get the 285/75-17 then.
t
his is RK 1.5" and 285/75-17

you say you have no interest in 35's but you want at least 33" true loaded height. I would get 35's then as most 35's are about33.5" loaded. 2.5" RK with 35's

Its not so much the height of the 35, but the width's. I was looking at the 35" BFG AT's as they load so much smaller.

my buddy's 1.5" lift with 285/75-17 he has 3.73's and it does fine, he wants 35's.

they are but they most likely wont meet his 33" loaded criteria. they are running small per most reports.
He might want to check out some Interco tires.

To me it seems pointless to go up to a "loaded" 32" tire. For $2k (wheels and tires) to gain an inch is too rich for my blood. My stockers measure 31". Looks wise, a heavy, wide 35" tire is overdone (my personal opinion). I probably see 20+ lifted JKU's on 35's on a daily basis here in Orange County, Ca which mostly belong to soccer moms.

I'm in a similar boat, those 2 sizes as well as the 305/70-17 which is the same diameter as the 285/75 but a little wider... I just wish there were a few more options and at least a few that were LR-D instead of all the E's. The 315's are just too wide for my taste... They look over done.

Right now, on the 295's I'm leaning towards the ST Maxx. On the 285's I think I would have to have the Toyo ATII's and they aren't going to be available for a while, so I think they are out. And at 305 it's probably KM2's and I think they are leading right now.
