Hood seems to "float"

At highways speeds, (well, ok, above highway speeds), my hood seems to "float" a bit. I can see it jumping around a bit. Anyone else experience this?

All of my TJ's have done that. I don't care for it much either, but nothing has ever come of it.

Mine doesn't float, btw; it's an '08.

Gary -- you're a tech?
How much negative camber and toe-in is nominal on an '08 Sahara? My right-front seems to have neutral toe and less than half a degree of negative camber...

My bad... I didn't see it being in a JK forum. I just saw the OP's name.

Mine does the same, at high speeds, usually when a semi or another large vehicle goes by. It's normal. First time I wigged a bit, now I am used to it.

Add me to the list of who's had the hood fly up on them on the road at one time, not in the jeep though. Freakin fords....all our ford pick ups have had hood latch problems. Don't get me started about ford.

Here is what you do to fix the hood thing. i went to the hardware store and bought a pack of that cheap window foam, it comes in a roll for like 2-3 bucks. put it on the sides where the rubber stops (right above the grill) and the front edge of the hood. it will seal tighter and no hood lift. I will put up pics if you need them.

I took the spring out the other day and so far it works! I was in the process of ordering the new product from Daystar but I call them and cancelled.
Thanks Gary1129.

Gary1129: Any ramifications with removing the spring, (long term?) I'm assuming the "spring" is there for a reason?

I noted a bit of a bounce or floating effect on the highway, but I figure the flanges are strong enough to hold it down. (Not worried about it coming up).

Not that I can see mines been out for about 5K now..... the springs sole purpose as I can see is to lift the hood slightly to facilatate gettin yer hand in there ta unlatch the safety catch and lift it....Gary
