How to tell gear ratio?

I bought a used '08 X 2-door from a private party and he did not have the window sticker for it. It's pretty bare bones but does have the "S" package and 17" wheels, and it's a manual. Is there any way to tell the differential gear ratio besides jacking it up and counting driveshaft revolutions relative to one turn of the tire? Is there any part of the VIN that indicates the ratio? Is it possible to have a window sticker printed out at a dealer by providing the VIN?

Look on the rear differential cover. There should be a tag held on by the covers bolts.

Tell us the numbers on the tag and we can tell you the ratio.

example pic your JK axle will look different....

Also for the factory build sheet for your JK all you need to do is go to your local Jeep Dealer and stop by the parts counter...give them your vin number and they can print you out the build sheet for your Jeep.

Thanks, I'll look for that tag, and I have to go to the dealer for another key (I know $$$) and I'll get the build sheet.
