You wouldn't think it would make a difference especially with only 700 miles on it. I have used KN filters on quite a few vehicles over the years some with 200K miles and no probs. The stock cotton filter plugged up really quick. But I will keep an eye on the piping. Thanks.

Given the same throttle imput, I really had to give it some fuel to launch it like a TJ. The hard part is finding a good used 05 or 06 Rubi unlimited 6sp. I like the new Jeeps, but they dont make a long wheelbase two door or a true truck engine anymore. I just can't go for a four door wrangler. They remind me of an H-3 or Montero and just dont look cool in the slightest way.
dont the autos come with higher gears than the manuals?

This reminds me of when the YJ came out. Seems like all I heard was:
square headlights? Swing out tailgate? 5 speed? "Command Trac"? "Wrangler"? Believe it or not I also heard many people say that the YJ's really sucked to wheel when compared to a CJ.

Or when the TJ came out it was "Thank god they went back to round headlights but real Jeeps have leaf springs".

It's called change and it happens. Just imagine what it will be like 20 years from now. If you continue to wheel, there is a pretty good chance you won't be in your YJ anymore. You might even be doing it in an older JK and defending it on whatever replaces the internet.

The reason why its plugged up is because it actually did what it was suppose to do

long ago.. like a year ago i remember seeing tests of filters.. K&N was good for flow but was the worst for actually filtering stuff. By worst i'm not talking about minor difference either. Pretty much all K&N is good for is blocking objects from going in like sticks, leafs and such things however dust can pass through.

On second thought....I thought real Jeeps didn't have doors or tops and were painted olive drab green with white stars on them.....

Your first statement is either true or false, so it really can't be considered an opinion...

But I'd say Joe gets some torque.

Gear it right and you got torque.

I wish I had a rubicon today when I had to hike up a mountain about 300 feet in elevation to inspect some lattice towers in Virginia.

Has anyone or can anyone measured the firewall to radiator distance on a TJ and a JK for comparison?

What nonsense? Because you think it is?

Last time I looked this was the JK section of the forum but from about the 4th post in this thread it's been one post after the other bashing the JK. And it's been mostly from folks who don't even own one or have never even driven one or they heard from a cousin who heard from a friend that heard from an ex brother-in-law who works for a dealer so he knows all the inside scoop from Jeep. Imagine if JKers posted on the CJ, YJ or TJ forums how much better their Jeep was over those models...what kind of reception would they get?

Everybody's free to post their comments (within reason) so why is it nonsense? As a JK owner, I chose to respond to a lame comment about the JK with no torque and how only real Jeeps have in-line motors and it's a mini-van because it has a V6 motor. Nothing I've posted has meant to offend anymore than what anyone else has posted....just my opinions and random thoughts.

I drive a Jeep and I give a wave to every CJ and Wrangler I meet......whether it's returned or not.

ALL JKs SUCK!

no, i think they're alright. I agree with the whole "change happens" comment made /\ up there somewhere... I mean it's not widely or easily accepted at first, but hey, I own a yj and like te jks... well I like the 2 door more, but it depends on the application. If you have a family who likes to go wheeling with you, maybe a 4 door is better for you. But hey, they're both good. And I haven't driven the newer jeeps (yet), so I can't comment on how one is better than the other

oh, and i meant to tell tiny, i love your pic or whatever you call it. avatar, i dunno. but punisher is the man...

Now that's funny!
But I agree too....most people don't like changes but things change...if not we'd still be flying around on Wright Flyers and driving Model T's....

It's a lot of fun. I'm use to a lot more torque and power, but it is a fun go-cart like ride. I'm preparing it for a small block ford V8 conversion. Right now it is very near stock, though. I drive it quite often as is. I need to get moving on the V8 conversion. I've about got my STi sold, so that should help with cash for the project.

The majority of Jeep buyers today are not hardcore wheelers. Jeep is just giving people what the majority wants, which is a more pavement friendly vehicle.

Also, a buddy of mine got over 400,000 miles on his caravan with a V6, running everyday with no major repairs, except fuel pump, and alternator.

you're doing the 302 swap in there? i had a veilside body kit.. that thing improved handling a lot as it was forcing it down however killed top speed even more .

http://www.fawbush.org/miata.html

That's my page on the car. I need to update it soon with more progress.

I bet I could get a 3.5L V6 in there, but it would require lots of fab work on my part. Due to time and money I'm going with Martin's monster miata kit. http://www.monstermiata.com/

yeah you're better off putting a 302 in there since you can allways get the kit or parts made for the kit such as headers, cross thing on the bottom of the engine, the oil pan..
