Issues Filling Gas Tank

Filling up the gas tank is a PITA in my wrangler (2008 JKU Sahara). At some gas stations like WaWa, I'll be filling up the tank and it'll automatically shut off after about 1.5 gallons (whether I'm holding down the trigger/handle myself or not) and the receipt will start printing and I'd I want more gas, I have to enter in the credit card and start all over again. This isn't an issue at just one WaWa, it happens at every WaWa I've ever been to around the country as well as a few different other stations. At different stations like BP, for example, it'll fill up fine until the very end. If I let the tank fill until it's full and automatically stop pumping gas, it doesn't shut off in time and gas comes flowing out for a few seconds. I've just been guesstimating the last year when it's almost full and stopping it myself so it doesn't flood over like this; however, I've gotten tired of having to worry about it and want to do something about it.

Anyone else have an issue like this?

Any suggestions?

It's a common issue on older JK's. The fuel fill tube has to be replaced with the updated version which has a check valve. This is additional info. http://www.wranglerforum.com/f202/gas-tank-overflowing-on-fill-up-look-here-1645905.html

Contact a dealer, you might be covered under this TSB as an extended warranty:

My '16 has the same issue will overflow. If I'm not careful, or if I try to "top off" I'll lose a little off the top. I've learned to adjust my habits, maybe I don't need that extra 2/10ths each fill up?

Had the fill tube replaced with the one that has the check valve, no more spit back. It now takes fuel very slowly though. If I try to pump any faster than barely squeezing the nozzle, it kicks off. I found that turning the nozzle upside down, I can pull the trigger on the nozzle about halfway and it won't kick off until it's full.

There is a gas station in my area that has one pump that shuts completely off after about a gallon and a half and won't let me pump any more. I haven't a clue why that happens.

I had the same problem with my Liberty, it is a well known issue and there is a lifetime warranty for the repair. Don't take the dealership's word if the vehicle qualifies for the repair, get on the phone with Chrysler customer care, or do a live chat with them. The dealer will in some instances pretend they know nothing of the campaign and try and bill you for the service if the factory warranty is up.

When I had the problem with my Liberty I contacted Chrysler customer care and was told the problem was covered under a campaign, and they gave me the campaign number. Sorry I don't remember it. Then I called the dealership and made an appointment and was told I was out of warranty and had to pay. I informed them of the talk with Chrysler Customer care and the campaign number, suddenly they told me there was no charge. I knew they'd try.
