Hey all, I am looking into purchasing the Rough Country 3.5 in. Series II Lift Kit with 2.0 Shocks it includes:
Front & Rear Coil Springs
N2.0 Shocks
Track Bar Drop Brackets
Front Lower Control Arms
Drop Pitman Arm
Sway Bar Links
Rear Coil Correction Plates
I will also be adding front adj track bar bracket, new front driveshaft, and 1.5 wheel spacers for 35's.
My question is will I "NEED" to add a rear drive shaft? I have been prowling through the threads and cannot really find a definitive answerc-ouch:. I am planning on purchasing a rear DS a few months down the road but can I get by for a few months (+/- 1,500 mi) without it? Will someone give me a true answer and also let me know what I may be leaving out regarding the build?
That kit comes with a front and rear TB drop bracket.
A front axle aide is a good idea BUT.. You will need a rear axle side as well.
Me personally, scrap the whole front drop pitman arm and TB bracket. See how things handle. Only IF having bumpsteer issues install a steering kit which includes a front bracket and flipped drag link.
I would add a rear axle side bracket which will improve handling.
Keep a eye on the rear driveshaft, you won't need one right away.
Actually, that kit includes a rear axle side bracket. I think Ken might be looking at an older kit. I do agree that you should leave off the front track bar bracket and drop pitman and do the rest of the kit first. If you feel like you are getting bump steer than install the front track bar bracket and add a flipped drag link to correct the steering geometry. You may not need it, but you can do it later without any issues.
I am also looking into this same lift kit, however I am new to the wrangler world and trying to learn as much as I can. I plan on installing this on a 2015 2 door sport and was wondering if anybody could either point me in the direction of a thread (I am having trouble navigating the search engine) or give me some insight on other things to purchase along with the lift. it will be a dd and a weekend mudder. I have read about stearing stabilizers and exhaust extensions, but at this point just a list would make life easier. thanks!
A friend asked me to look into this 3.5" Series II kit for his 2016 JKU Sahara. Any new thoughts other than skip the drop pitman arm and front trackbar drop bracket at first?
On my 2015 JK 2 door, I installed a Rough Country 4-inch X-series lift as well as rough country exhaust spacing kit (a fairly cheap purchase) and there are absolutely no issues with the driveshafts rubbing on anything whatsoever. I have had no problems. Before I bought my kit and checked it out once it was on the car, I was convinced by many threads here that I was going to need to drop a lot of money on new driveshafts but once I did the lift kit and exhaust spacer install, I realized that there wasn't anything to worry about. I can take pictures of the clearance if you would like. I am still running stock front and rear driveshafts.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
