Looks like 4WheelParts is offering a regear install special $1099 excluded some fees. I am getting ready to pick up the phone and make an appt. we are driving from Ohio to Colorado in May and I have 3.21 gears with 315 KO2s. Power is ok but I know once we hit the elevation I will be kicking myself. We are moving in a year or less to Colorado or Arizona, so we would still be able to use the warranty. What you all think?

I'd go for it. My Jeep has 3:21 gears and I always thought people were nuts telling me I couldn't run 33s with them when I was already on 32s. What's an inch and 6 to 8 lbs, I'd ask. Well, I live in Louisiana and I have great power and get an average of 21.1 mpg.

I just took a road trip to Colorado Springs for a month... power felt like it dropped by a 1/3rd and my mpg went to 16.5 to 17 mpg!!! I get it now, it's boils down to where you live IMHO. If moving there full time, get the regear. Just my $.02...

I agree my tires are 33.75-34" and I easily pull away from lights with an easy push on the pedal with the 3.21. I can see where it would help when cruising highway and city at 1900 rpms or so. I know with my wife's luggage and the hardtop for extra security we may get a little doggy on hills and elevation. I called them and hey had literally nothing details on the sale and asked me to call back Wednesday. I'm going to call back and at least get an appointment spot. I know there's a 500 mile break in period.

Go for it, 4.56's will work great all around for you :)

I'd go to Northridge 4x4 in Longmont CO before 4wheel parts. They had been offering $999 re-gear.
I have my appt 3/13 @ NR4x4 for 4.56 Yukon gears, master kits, oils, labor(9hrs) <$1400 (have 3.73s so no carrier needed) with Procal & 5 35" KO2s a hair over $3100.

The shop that installed my gears only go with Yukon and told me they have a Lifetime warranty.
I think there is a minor additional cost to get the lifetime guarantee
Lifetime with the Yukon Extended Service Plan

https://www.yukongear.com/warranty.aspx
Yukon recommends 33" max for D30 hmm I wonder if that will void the Yukon Extended Service Plan? The rear D44 is recommended up to 35"

I don't know it says 1 day only. Not sure if you have to buy that day or have the appt that day. They should know what's in their ad before it's received by customers

Just called their 800#. Kind of douchey.. #1 if you ask someone if they can hold.. wait for a response before you put them on hold. #2 Don't act like a douche because you haven't seen the ad yet. "Umm yea well idk.. I haven't seen the ad yet".. Call back tomorrow when we have the ad.. tomorrow he says. Lol. Must have had a lot of calls today

Haha. 4WP customer service has always kinda been douchey. The one in Indy is no exception. They were super not helpful when I was chatting when them a few years ago about buying parts for my lift on my truck. It turned me off enough that I said that I wouldn't ever buy anything from them for my truck there.

I hear that. I'd rather wait til I move and pay someone who actually enjoys talking to me. Even pay a little more. I'm sure their company cares about losing 1400$, but I guess that douche doesn't.
Meanwhile the kid working here in Cleveland was nice but wants me to call back Wednesday. I offered my number for a callback, but he declined and said it was best for me to call back. I get it, but I draw the line when I am trying to earn someone else's business on my dime. Last I checked I wasn't the one selling something. Wow.

I hope 4WP has some reps on here. Another question, do you always send your customers sales catalogs, and leave your employees misinformed? Or do you do it on purpose, so your staff can come up with douchey answers? Take your time with that.

Yea you are! I have to say Joe was very nice, so he may save the sale. I just get a little frustrated when I'm opening my wallet and no one is jumping. Coming from a guy who used to be in sales, and a long history of bending over backwards for customers. Ran retail stores, hotels, sold and adjusted insurance, now I work in salvage for Progressive. Still, I am not surprised though. ;)

Wow, this is such a great deal I don't know how I could pass it up. Guess I got to figure out if I'm going with 4.56 or 4.88.

Or should I just bite the bullet and buy a D44 takeoff and rid myself of the D30. Big diff in price and I really don't know which way I should go.

The have in fine print extra for fluid and speedo adjustment. I wonder if they are going to try to sell you on a procal. I already have one so I hope this is not a stipulation.

What would you do? Keep D30 and regear or spend extra and by D44 takeoff? If I just regear I could just buy the components for a new D44 over time and not be out a big chunk of money.

Right. I thinks it just so people don't think that's included. I have a Flashcal so I don't need them to do that. I'll pay for the fluid.. hell I'll buy them them some hot coffee in the morning and return with beer in the evening.

Here's my thing too. They're not far from the common 1400$ price tag that I will be charged when I move in 5-7 months out west. So if it gets sticky with add ons I'll just wait. The only leverage is getting it done sooner

I wonder if these are the gears that they are installing with this special? They seem to be the least expensive on their website. Does anyone have an opinion or experience with this brand?

Right! Deal breaker

Found the diff cover gaskets....
lube locker gaskets, anyone have experience with these? RTV can make a small mess and these are reusable.

Thoughts?

Ahhh nvm guess you figured it out. They're supposed to be great. Less mess and no more wire wheeling the rtv off. I'm sure another perk is being able to more easily inspect your gears when you change out your oil without all the hassle.

Got a break down on the other stuff. $40 for gear oil plus $20 for disposal fee. New carrier is $93. Plus tax on everything.

I also got a quote for a trutrac in the rear which adds $500. A set of 5 315 C rated KO2 is $1300 after a $70 rebate and they pay the sales tax on that. So not a bad deal there either.

I wonder how the 4.56's would be on stock 31s for awhile until I save for the tires. This regear deal is pretty hard to pass up.

Well if you pay for it right away and THEN schedule an appointment...schedule it out 6 months until you have the money for the tires. I can't imagine they would care as long as they got their money.

Just a heads up. If you have a D30 axle in the front with 3.21 gears. There are additional components that will have to be purchased as well as additional labor. So it will definitely be more than 1099 more like 1800 to 2000 probably after taxes. Still a savings but definitely not a huge savings....
