JK Horn Issue

So, I have taken my 07 off road a few times. Twice in the last month, it has been a bit wet. Each time, after I am done, the horn sounds like it was taken from some rice-burner. Jeep replaced it once, and now I have to take it in again.

Anyone else having an issue?

I bet I honk a horn once (maybe twice) a year, and I still think I'm over estimating that number. The only reason I honked the horn on the JK was because I read some post that someone was complaining about the sound of it. I can't help but wonder about the people that complain about the sound of a horn. Either they will complain about anything, or they have such a privileged life that the sound if a horn is the only complaint they have.

Well, I apologize, Scooter_Trash. I was simply trying to find out if others were having an issue with what may be a deisgn flaw in the JK. God forbid people come here to get answers, no matter how many times they may use a certain part of their Jeep.

I have not seen a JK come thru our shop with a horn issue...in fact aside from some minor water leakage issues with the tops the JK doesnt have any issues that I can think of....minor niggles for the most part that they share in equal proportion to every other chrysler we sell...Gary

water logged

I had the same problem with my horn, but it was because I drove too fast through a creek and flooded the horn. I thought it would dry out on its own but after 3 weeks it still sounded anemic. I took the horn out, sprayed the inside with wd-40 and then blew compressed air into the chamber. I re-installed the horn and it now sounds like normal. I think it is not so much a design problem as it is a driving problem. Driving too fast into water forces water into the engine compartment that gets into the horn causing it to sound like that.

My horn was DOA when I purchased my 08 Sahara. They fixed it the next day but it does sound like a toy horn. I too only use mine a couple of times a year but it says on the spec sheets that it's a single tone horn.... but it works. I have seen posts where others have replaced theirs with air horns. If you don't like the tone, you can swap one out from Pep Boys or somewhere.

Thanks. I am sure it is the same issue as mine. I am sure I was driving way too fast through the mud.
