JK Noises

I used to have a TJ so strange noises aren't an issue to me, but It kind of bothers me when I hear strange sounds coming from my brand new Jeep.

I have an 08 JK Unlimited Rubicon.

Every time I have the heat on it makes a hissing noise every minute or less. (The same noise my TJ used to make when i would turn OFF the heat).

Every time I hit a bump I hear what sounds like plastic or molding bouncing bounce on my left near my seat belt.

These aren't very big issues, I just wanted to know if anyone else noticed these things with their JK?

I have the same noise from the seat belt area. Its actually the latch on the door making the noise. There is a TSB out on this. The dealer can replace the part and the noise should go away. Taking mine in next week for the fix.

If you have a 6 speed just wait for the clutch to start chirping when you shift. Now that's annoying.

That's good to hear, I was hoping it wasn't anything any more serious than that.

Thanks!

I've got the noise in the left side seat belt area too. Both of my 08s had the same noise. Glad to hear there is a fix for it. Going to inquire from the dealer to get it looked at. Thanks for the info.

iamagolfspaz,

My first 08 was a six speed and my current 08 is a six speed. No noise in the clutch in either vehicle. None in the current Rubicon yet. The first was a Sahara unlimited.

I have an intermittent rattle in the passenger side A pillar. It literally comes and goes for no discernible reason. Sounds like its coming from the upper sport bar surround~ but it's not... There are other misc rattles and thumps I just turn up the radio.

There has been some difference between my two vehicles with respect to the clutch even though there was no noise in either. The first vehicle had a clutch that was very grabby in the beginning. I originally thought that it was my clutch foot being out of practice after 7 years of owning an automatic caravan. The clutch gradually got better and by about 10,000 miles seemed to be much better. It didn't take me even 2000 miles for the clutch foot to get coordinated and the clutch grabbed for longer than that.

The new Rubicon has been super out of the box and has about 7000 miles on it now. The clutch doesn't grab and never did. I don't know what the difference between the two vehicles may have been. Maybe the torque on the Rubicon is a little different (more torque) because of the differentials being different between the two vehicles. I thought maybe just the clutch material was different? Or possibly someone test driving it not knowing how to drive a standard may have used too high rev with too much slip causing glazing of the clutch that took a while to wear off on the old one? I also thought the maybe the old clutch had somehow gotten oil on it causing the grabbiness? At any rate, the chirping could be irritating. Hope it goes away for you.
