I put 35's on my JKU a couple months back and as expected, I had rubbing on the pinch seams in the rear. I searched and searched the forum to find a write-up on how someone trimmed theirs. Found nothing. So I went ahead and did it on my own and decided to document my process.

Below is a picture of the untrimmed seam with the paint rubbed off:

Anytime I was off road and had any type of body roll, I could hear it rub. Today I rotated my tires and decided to trim it up while I was at it.

I used a jig saw with a metal cutting blade. I found that if I left the tire on while trimming, I could use the tire profile to guide my cut. It ended up working out great. I then cut a smaller 45 degree cut on the bottom to make it not have such a sharp corner.

Once done cutting I took off my tire and prepped for paint. I filed the edges and sanded it to make it nice and smooth. Then sanded the original paint around the cut so the new paint would go on fine. And simple enough, taped it all off and painted.

I uploaded some stills of a video I took of the seam contacting the tire before and after.

Here's the parts I trimmed:
You can clearly see where the paint rubbed off.

I know this is a simple thing to do but I figured it would help at least a few people.

Thanks for reading. Let me know if it helped!

One thing to remember, you're essentially opening up the body at that corner when you do this. Yes, there might be some foam sprayed in there, but I decided I like the body of my Jeep too much to leave it open.
I picked up a JB Weld stick and packed the area good, then a quick sand and sprayed it with body colored paint.
Almost invisible now, and my 35s aren't at risk.

Thanks for the heads up. Will remember the JB Weld when I tackle this.
