Jku a-pillar rattle

Lately i have heard a loud rattle or creak coming from my driverside a-pillar. It occurs mostly when accelerating or slowing down, but is occasionally present over bumps. Anyone have any ideas?

If it's the same as mine, it's the piece of plastic trim where the a-pillar meets the top of windshield. I've heard of putting some padding between it and the metal.

Haven't tried it yet but it's in my list.

Have also heard that door latch might need adjustment in some cases.

Make sure your bolts on the inside are tight. I've had mine work loose on more than one occasion and rattle.

It's the plastic trim on the a-pillar. I noticed it on mine as well and the screws had worked their way loose. Padding seems like a good idea I will have to try. I have been battling a rattle in my b-pillar where the seatbelt and door latch is....haven't quite got that one diagnosed yet.

The B-pillar issue is a common issue with the door latch. It sounds like it's coming from the area where the seat belt hangs but it is due to play in the latch.

Wrap 2-3 turns of electrical tape around the metal catch on the B-pillar where the door latch hooks. For pics run a quick search on this problem. It works like a charm.

My top seatbelt mount rattles. If I slide it up and down, it goes away for a few miles but soon comes back. Haven't thought of a fix yet.

I had a similar issue and it wasn't any of the causes mentioned here. I took it to the dealer and it ended up being the outside metal windshield bracket resonating from the outside.. I swear it sounded like it was coming from the inside. To the plate off repositioned it and now gone.
There are so many different sound going on in a wrangler it's hard to tell where they come from sometimes.

Does anyone have any pictures of what bolts come loose? Or what plastic piece to pad?

The plastic trim on the inside of my a-pillar just had two screws that had worked their way loose causing the rattle. And on a side note...the electrical tape on the door catch and greasing the door locking mechanism cured the rattle I was hearing from the b-pillar. I can now drive without beating my head off the steering wheel everytime I heard it.

Had this started on my JKU a few days ago. Getting more frequent with each passing day.

Next time it does it put your hand up on the visor and see if that is rattling. I find that mine rattles around a bit when up and it sounds like it is coming from the A-pillar, but it is just very close. The visors are pieces of ultra cheap plastic, so not sure of a fix. I did think that maybe I could get some nice ones off a wrecked Grand Cherokee or something, but right now I just deal with it. Sometimes just knowing where it is coming from slows down the OCD.

I got mine fixed earlier today, but hadn't posted back because pics aren't taken yet. I originally purchased a pillar grab handles by quadratec and put them on right away when I got my JKU. Turned out it was not the best spot for them. I got a second pair for the roll bar and moved the a pillar set to the sound bar. The grab handles have a metal washer and it was a bit deformed when I removed them. I took the pillar bolts out and placed a plastic washer and re tightened. Bam, creaking / rattle is gone.
