JKURX Front Speakers

I am trying to replace my front speakers in my 2014 JKURX. I have the old speakers out fine and now am looking at wire colors.

Both left and right wires are solid black and green!

I am going to assume the green is positive and the black is negative. I cannot find any wiring diagrams for this Jeep yet.

If anyone knows the polarity of the front speakers in a 2014 JKURX help please.

Hey Steed- a buddy of mine used to work at a stereo shop...with the old speaker...take a 9 volt battery and put it on the speaker terminals..if it puffs out, you have the correct +/- ...the connector should only connect to the speaker one way so that will be the only way I could suggest without a color schematic.

Thanks. That trick will tell you which connector on the speaker is + or - but I need to figure out which of the two wires coming from the head unit are + or -. My new speakers are clearly marked but the factory Alpine speakers are not marked at all. Also, the feed wires are both solid color dark green and black on both sides.

Is there anyway to test the wires to see which one is + and -? I have a meter but am not sure how to use it with Ohm.

Bro,

You are the champ. As soon as I wrote that reply I realized I can take a AAA battery and use the factory connector and connect to the factory speakers and figure out which wire is hot.

Yup, Green + Black -

Thanks. I am slow but I can be taught.

done. Infinity speakers sound great compared to factory. Green was positive on both sides. If anyone needs info on this mod please post a question as i don't plan on writing this one up unless there is interest.
sweet!!!

I would like to make one comment. You don't need to remove the whole dash and airbag just to change the front speakers. There is a Youtube video out there that shows just that. Not needed. Just remove the dash screws, glove box, handle above glove box. Then buy a quality, very short #2 Philips screw driver. Pull back the dash as you unscrew/screw the speakers.

Also, dash screws are 7mm. Glove box handle hex is 5mm. Glove box handle bolts are 8mm.

Steed...

Did you get the Infinity tweeters installed? Since they are discontinued, I bought some on Amazon just in case.

Yeah.. Need to know if you went with Infinity Reference 6032cf or 6032si.

Thanks.

I used the Infinity 6032si speakers in both my sound bar and the front of my Jeep. In the sound bar I switched the tweeter to +3 but left it at 0 on the front ones. They come with an three position mount adapter. You will need four small nuts and bolt combos per speaker to mount the speakers to the adapter plate. I went down to ACE hardware and bought eight 4mmx10mm bolts along with eight 4mm lock nuts.

Yes, I got the Infinity tweeters in as well. I found that four to five wraps of black electrical tape hold the new tweeters in the old grills just fine. Be sure to use the crossover wires that come with the Infinity tweeters and keep an eye out for odd wiring colors like I had.

My favorite copilot...

Thanks. She is actually my granddaughter. I have seven grandchildren and this one is starting young. She loves the Jeep. Yes, all my grandkids are strapped in the back in car seats. Good luck with the speaker upgrade. I am very happy with mine. The last stock speaker I have now is the subwoofer. Hmmm....

Any subwoofer recommendations?

I tried both the Infinity's and Kickers with the base radio. The Kickers are FAR FAR better than the Infinity's in terms of base response with my radio package. The Infinity's have a slight edge on upper range relative to the Kickers. Since I found bass to be lacking the most, I went with the Kickers (Pressurized' Tweeter Mod solved the high end).

You should post the exact Kickers part number for folks. Did they fit without modification or are they like the Infinity where you need to mount a small bracket? Does Kickers make a good subwoofer replacement for the Jeep? I am not even close to 20 questions yet.:happyyes:

Ok Good! I've used the 6032si's before in my Mitsubishi Pajero and loved the sound! I want to replace the sub as well....would like to go with a 12" DVC if I can find a mount that'll let me put it in the factory position.
