JKURX Which Front Driveshaft

Ok, so I am lifting my JKURX with a 2.5" (3-4" actual) Metalcloak ARB kit and have decided to go the driveshaft route now. Here are my choices...

- Rough Country
- Adams
- Rock Crawler

All are 1310 shafts and about $400

Any recommendation one way or another, any to stay away from?

You are investing in a quality lift. Do the same on the DS. Adams, Woods, Tattton & Reel are all high quality.

Of the ones you picked definitely Adams.

I believe rough country shafts are tatton. Tatton is good. I run Tom woods. Great product. I run the 1350 but the 1310 is in the same price range you listed.

Edit.

Whatever you decide be sure to Grease and inspect it as part of your regular maintenance routine.

I know Adams changed to solid u-joints.
Stronger supposedly and you only grease the centering ball.
Not sure what the other company's are doing.

Adams and JE Reel are the two I'd consider.

No Tom Woods for me. Been hearing too much negative stuff from local installers.

I am curious as to what type of negative feedback. Maybe things have changed recently. One thing a about Woods products, it's very difficult to get a good discount even for installers so they may not have an incentive to sell them.

I've used 3 sets in the past with very good results but it may be time to pick a different product next time.

I was asking about DS options, though I had my eye on a local DS builder. They like TW himself (and apparently one knows him personally) but were complaining that his driveshafts ("recently") were having balancing problems and the Chinese joints he was using, were getting destroyed. Too many customers were irate at the recommendation. Maybe he has become too successful/big and having QA and outsourcing problems? I didn't ask for more details. This is from two years ago. Take it FWIW.

that's no good. honestly i hope it's not true. i've been running a TW 1310 upfront for about 2 years. very happy with it. it's pretty beat up too and no balance issues or anything. *knock on wood*

Heard the same thing here. A local shop (big shop does all the work for the dealers her in Phoenix) had a table of about 20 of Tom woods that all need to be repaired due to the joint issue. I heard very good things about Adams.

How much for a replacement Tw u-joint ? What if one breaks or just needs replacing ?
Spicer joints are jeep and can be sourced just about anywhere.

I got a Coast 1310. They use the Spicer Life series non-greasable. Driveshaft U Joint Replacement Parts | Light Duty OEM Universal Joint

If a tom woods gold seal joint fails I believe he will warranty it. As long as it wasn't a fail to grease issue.

You can put spicer or neapco joints in if you want. I am a big fan of tom woods. He has been making quality shafts for a very long time. My next favorite brand would be tatton.

Very true, but you have to ship it back on your dime. That's the issue.
