I just ordered the 23" Auxbeam to mount on my bumper. Was thinking about wiring it to come on when the stock headlights are switched to high beams. Has anyone done this? Talk me out of it...
The pulse width of the head lights have been known to cause relays to buzz. Plus it limits you to only being able to use it while the headlights are on high. Easier to wire the relay to the battery.
If you have the stock headlights, the probability to wire a relay off the high beam is a good possibility. Currently I am running spot lights off of the high beam with the wife's jeep that has stock lights. I was able to do it until I went to LED headlights and then I got the relay chatter. Depending on the state, you might want to run an interrupt switch.
I had thought about it...but glad I didn't! First, It's way too bright to even risk flashing oncoming traffic and most importantly, with a dedicated switch, I can turn it on when working outside at night and no buzzing/chirping of alarms like you'd get with the headlights on/doors open
Thanks for all the input!
So now I am thinking a switch is the way to go, but the one that comes with the light is hideous. Does anyone make switches that fit in the available slots in the dash? I would like to keep the stock look inside.
dont do it...it will cause more issues then its worth. just get a relay kit and wire it directly to your battery.
