I have a 2004 Wrangler X. Two questions:

1. What is the X model mean and how is that different from the sport?

2. Can't find any grease fittings on the undercarriage. Should I?

Thanks

I will say welcome as I don't see a lot of posts...the "X" is basically a "trim level" Sahara, Sport and Rubicon are also trim levels...there was an SE for a while as well however it didn't say "SE" on the side of the Jeep.....IDK for sure but believe the X is a fairly plain Jeep as for extras.....and a lot of those extras are not noticeable, unless you know where to look. Some it is seats, some it is wheel and tire size, some it is motor, some it axles, some it is inside the axles (lockers) and gears.
Might try and look for a "build sheet" from Mopar for it...there are a few places on here in threads it shows up. this will tell you how your JEEP left the factory...but obviously not what any previous owner has done.

As far as grease fittings yes there should be several, start at the front of the Jeep and slide underneath between the front wheels. Look at the parts in the steering and front end that move and you will begin to see the zerks. Using this knowledge continue sliding to the back of the Jeep...I think there is about 10 IIRC...GOOD LUCK!!

X is the entry level 6cly pkg, as noted above most difference are cosmetic, seats, AC, shocks etc. Under the the skin its just about the same. Axle wise to me is the biggest difference, X only provided the dana 35 rear, vs the optonal dana 44 rear which was stronger. Which does not mean much unless you plan to turn it into a trail rig.. then plan for some axle upgrades at some point. Most of the zerk as noted are on the steering, tie rod ends, ball joints perhaps.. front driveshaft should have one too.

Thanks a bunch. My jeep is on a Caribbean Island and almost no one there knows squat. Guess I'll bring a grease gun down and do it myself. At least I now know it is not sealed up like most other cars now.

See someone knows..... I knew there were several.....but didn't know for sure how many but thought it was CLOSE to ten......some u-joints are greaseable if they have been switched....
