Magnuson Supercharger Pentastar Testing

Im probably going to prison for breaking and entering at Magnuson(LOL), but in the meantime lets pound on it a little and see how she responds.

Here's the plan. We are going to install it on a stock 13 Rubicon. We will dyno before and after with stock 4.10 gearing and stock 32" tires. This is the most accurate way for us to figure the true power gain.

Then we will do the 0-60 with stock components, play with it off road... the works. Pics and video during install and testing coming.

I cannot wait to get this thing installed. The sound alone will be worth it. Im expecting a shriek sound out of the eaton style screws.

I had a Maggie on a LS2 street car not too long ago. They are proven, sound wicked, and make good power. Looking forward to the results.

I'm anxious to see the torque curve after the install. The Eaton charger they use is supposed to boost better at low RPMs than the centrifugal charger that others use.

What are you planning to change out to keep the Jeeps drivetrain in one piece? I know that keeping your foot out of the skinny pedal will keep axle shafts from falling apart, but realistically with a supercharger, who will? Just curious what people are doing after the supercharger or before to keep it all in one piece.

The drive train in these trucks is tough. Our RIPP SC made gobs of power and we beat the snot out of it. All drivetrain components were/are stock. Nothing has been changed or upgraded in that regard.

I don't expect beefing up the drivetrain will be necessary in this case either. If we break something tho....You'll hear about it.

Excellent! Been waiting a long time for this. Actively monitoring Magnuson on the other forum for months now, though they seem to be having issues with their tune at the moment. Got to say bit surprised you got one, had thought you were RIPP through and through !

I like your testing so this should give us some real world figures.

Ahhh my beloved Betty....I'll never part with her....

This test truck for this is my brother's 13. Same gearing as betty, so we should be able to get some head to head numbers later.

We have been watching them also. This SC is the same style as the one chosen for the corvette zr1. And you know that corvette R&D team knows what they are doing, and has an unlimited budget.

So im intrigued about how the screw style will work in our application. We do LOVE the RIPP unit. The power gain is out of this world. So is the power delivery. The Pentastar motor's vvt suggests that it wants to build power higher in the rpm curve wich is the RIPP unit's forte. (betty is a ROCKET)

This is a different route to the same goal. Completely unknown to us, so we have no idea what to expect.

Besides, being impartial, The goal is to install and test. If Car and Driver only tested bmw's it would be pretty boring to read.

He's going to freak when we put his truck on the dyno, She is brand new, pristine condition. Probably never seen 3k rpm.

Super Cream Puff.

Not for long.

Its a long story... started a long time ago, when betty first got on the dyno with 700 miles and a prototype AFE intake, when no one knew how tough the pentastar was, and everyone was trembling over ticking jeeps.......

We are going to try to get the stock 13 on the dyno this weekend.

Here's a shot.... The stock commando JKUR is "Sweet Pea". She's the one we are about to bolt the screws to....

Obviously betty on the right, and in the back is Tonka, a lunatic JKUR on 40s

I know I have been thinking about doing it to my Super Duty with the 6.2L gasser.

The Magnuson is a great High Helix Roots blower. My guess is it will out torque the Ripp down low where your brother drives it. Should be a real kick in the pants for instant boost off the line. But the Ripp will make more High RPM power due to it's design. My guess is a cross over point of about 4000 to 4500 rpm. Should be a great matchup if the electronic wheelspin nannies don't shut down the fun on the roots.

traction control

wheel spin should be a non issue with the traction control off.

We're going to find out.

The sub 3k rpm thing i mentioned earlier was me trying to convey how babied the truck has been up to this point.

Did you ever post any 0-60 times or quarter mile times to show the power gains?
