I have a 2014 jk unlimited with the hardtop. Ever since I've had it the jeep has had a bad leak on the drivers side, and small leak on the passenger side. The drivers side leaks at the front of the door and runs down the pillar onto the floor, as well as the back of the door and drips onto me. The passenger side is on the back of the door and will drip on the passenger. I've taken it back to the dealer ship and the claim they weren't able to recreate the problem, but changed the seals any way, or so they say. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I love the jeep and the put katzkin leather in it when I got it but I cannot stand how bad it leaks. Thanks in advance!
Thank you very much! Just frustrating to me. Had it to the dealer ship and they said they replaced the seals. Highly doubtful they did and now I'm out of warranty. Very aggravating to say the least.
How long ago were you at the dealer? If within the last 12 months I'd go back although you're out of warranty now. They made a repair attempt and you still have the same concern. They should stand behind their work.
Oh yeah it's barely been 3 months if that. I had a 2012 2500 Cummins that I took back to them 9 times with no improvement! I was so upset with it that I traded for the. I do love the jeep for sure and it was a good trade. The service is horrible with the repair crew and seems like they never do anything to even attempt to fix it.

I'll keep the Wrangler indefinitely because it's unique. But the Grand Cherokee? About to replace it and not a chance in hell I'll be getting another. It's the wife's, but I'm the one who has to take it in for service plenty of times. Local dealers are just so very, very bad in the service department. It's not so much their ability to repair the problem, although we've had problems with that. It's the horrific customer experience all around. Crowded, noisy, crappy service writers' area. No amenities. No alternative transportation options. Unmanaged lines milling around waiting to even talk to a SA, with no supervision as to who is next.
We saw an ad for the interior of the GC Summit yesterday. Wife said, "Beautiful, but I'll not have another because the dealer experience is so bad." So it's off to Benz or Audi or Jaguar for her. She likes her GC but doesn't want to get the "$14,000 Dodge Dart" experience when we take it in for service.
I understand where you're coming from. I have one salesman that I deal with, anytime I call he's willing to come in if he's not working or if he can't he will set something up for him. He's awesome, but the others don't even act like I'm real. I was looking at some heavy duty trucks and I asked for help and literally waited 30 mins and no one even came my way. Talk about serious frustration. It's a respect thing too, if I came to any dealership in the old jeep Cherokee they wouldn't talk much at all, but in my Wrangler or the Cummins I had they would normally jump at the chance to talk to and I'd just about rather fix it myself than take it to them. The deals my salesperson gives me are hard to pass up, but the service department lacks any social skills what so ever. It's just about converted me to ford or chevy cause they actually seem interested. Looked at some escalades the other day and they have just about annoyed me to death. Chrysler needs to get it together before they lose it all.
Yeah those are not bad choices.
I think in my area the problem is limited dealers around, being that I'm from east ky anyone can basically set up a monopoly without any competition. The service department is a joke and it drives me insane. On a positive note, what they lack in their ability to work on their vehicles my dealer makes up for in his service to me.
Reading posts like this make me so grateful for an amazing dealership. From the sales dept, to parts and service, they are awesome. We've bought 5 vehicles from them over the years and 90% of the staff is the same. To me that is a good sign they treat their employees well, I equal that to good customer service in most cases too. We are in a small area, word of mouth goes a long way.
The salesman I've dealt with always asks, "hows the Pumpkin" when he sees my Jeep there. I always get the same service tech, even though there are a couple that race to get the ticket first, lol. He wheels, so he knows my Jeep gets used and looks for things of concern. The parts manager always comes out and chats Jeep with me if he's there.
I had a very bad experience with a local Ford dealership. I actually ended up yelling at the Service manager after many repeat trips for the same issue. It made it very uncomfortable when he then showed up as a sub on my husbands soft ball team, lol. Our Nissan dealer is as incompetent as they get, I now travel an extra 30 min. for an oil change on my G35 since Infiniti is 2 hours away.
I do understand the bad dealership issues. It's so nice to have a good dealership, it makes any issues not so much of a big deal because I know they will handle it and can trust that. There are good ones out there, I think they are harder to find these days.
very glad that you have a dealer that is willing to do what they are supposed to be doing. It seems like it's a rare thing these days. We ended up getting made at the service manager and having words about why my truck wasn't getting fixed the first time, just a buncha crazy stuff. On a positive note I tighted up my door brackets and it cut down the severity of the leak big time but it still leaks. The passenger was far worse today, so maybe a little more elbow grease will fix them both. I think the previous owner didn't know what he was doing and messed with the windshield seal too. So it's a mess when it rains but if I can stop the leak, which leaks to a horrible smell, I'll be happy.
