Hey guys i purchased my 2008 jeep wrangler unlimited with the 6 speed used with 58xxx miles back in February. About 3 weeks after i began having problems with the trans popping out of first gear on take off. I fought with the service manager trying to get it to jump with no avail and my warranty ran out. now at 61xxx miles i decided to do a trans service. When i pulled the drain plug i discovered it was full of metal shavings. I am wondering if this is a acceptable amount of shavings and i should not worry or is the trans about to go on me lol. It has been a couple weeks since service and seems to have helped the jumping out of gear. I'm sure it does not help that i have 3.21 gearing and running 35" tires.
Thank god lol I was really worried it needed a rebuild or to replace the trans. It probably had around 20000 on the fluid in the trans.
Hopefully I can save some pennies up and regear soon to take the strain off the trans and clutch.
Normal. The jumping out of gear is probably the inner shift boot. The service manager should have all of the information on it, if he decides to look.
