Mopar Rims

I purchased a new 2013 JK 2 door 7 months ago. The dealer had lifted the jeep, installed mopar rims P5155978 , and Good Year tires. Like I said, i have had the new jeep for 7 months and has 7,000 miles it and the rims appear to have corrosion coming through the black matt finish. I was told by the dealer that Mopar will not do anything for me on this issue. Anyone from Jeep/mopar here? I did not buy the xtra parts. The dealer had it all set up and was selling it, and i bought it.

You didn't buy it, but you bought it? Uh, OK. I would start out by being a bit more emphatic with the dealer.

What i mean is,,,, the dealership had the jeep already set up. I did not buy the rims and ask them to put them on. I would think that everything on that vehicle would be covered by some warranty, since the jeep came with them at the time of purchase.

I was told from the dealership that mopar performance parts have no warranty. And the rims are considered performance parts. They are looking into having a local company refinish them for me, but i am worried about workmanship and longevity.

^^^Yep, I have a Mopar Performance 2013 catalog, which does include wheels.

On the back of the catalog, it states, Mopar performance parts are sold "as is", unless otherwise noted....

Since this MOD was sold to you on a new Wrangler, plus the MOD was Dealer installed, then noooooooooo, I would take this up the ladder at the Dealership to get some help. All the way to the Dealer principle/owner if need be!!!!!!!!
If for no other reason, they should have told you about this no warranty portion, at the time of your Wrangler purchase!

I think the "implied warranty" takes precedent over the Mopar "non-warranty" in a situation like this; unless the dealer specifically provided you with something stating that those parts are not covered. The problem with wheels is that the dealer can just claim that you must have used a corrosive cleaner, etc. on them (if push comes to shove). I wouldn't go back in with guns-a-blazin', but I would pursue it and try to get them to replace the wheels if that's what you really want. It sounds like they're willing to work with you.

The good thing is, the dealer service manager has told Mopar, myself and the dealer parts dept that i keep the jeep in immaculate condition. The rims actually look like they werent cleaned off properly before applying the black matt coating. Even the spare tires Rim, which has been covered shows the same corrosion.

Did you get a time period where you can return the Jeep if you are not satisfied? Did the Dealer installed mods increase the price of the vehicle? I am sure it did. And dii you know that the Factory installed wheels probably cost MORE than your aftermarket Mopar wheels because of the D.O.T rating all parts have to have on new vehicles.

I am just giving your some ideas to use in your argument to the dealer. I am sure you like the look BUT that Jeep did come from the factory with Stock rims. Where are they at? I have seen factory wheels outlast aftermarket in almost every case here in the Snow Belt.

Good Luck on your Battle.

I was hoping this forum site had a Mopar Rep monitoring posts like Rancho and other companies do.

There is one issue that must be brought up and that is when you purchase a new vehicle everything on it will be covered under the MFG new car warranty. I know they do that with lift kits so rims should be covered.

Did you PM (private message) them? I would think that would be your best bet to ensure that they see it.

Yeah, I just realized that. The vendor is simply a Jeep dealership in NY that must have scooped up the domain name. Huh.

I just scanned the Mopar Warranty and didn't see any exclusion for wheels. I also don't think wheels fall under the heading of "Mopar Performance Parts (parts beginning with a P)", which is a separate category from "Mopar Parts" and carries no warranty. What's your part # for the wheels?

The Mopar Warranty does cover corrosion described as "inside-out perforation" if I'm reading/understanding it correctly.

I think you may be getting some wrong information from your dealer. I'd do a bit more research if I were you. Of course, I may be way off base and missing something obvious.....

Wow, that seems ridiculous to offer no warranty (at all) on a wheel. I'll be damned...
Guess I was way off base, sorry.
Good luck, I hope the dealer does the right thing.

I dont plan on the dealership doing the right thing. They have lied to me, installed the wrong lift kit, told me they had done services that were not complete. Luckily I put a dot of whiteout on parts they claimed they worked on or replaced, which indicates to me that all they want to do is sell a vehicle.

I've seen a lot of MOPAR warranty threads lately...I will never buy any of their mods, until they start offering a reasonable warranty. This is absolute crap.

I agree, but this really says a lot about the dealer. I had my dealer install a Mopar Performance lift weeks after the sale. He rolled the lift into the warranty and gave it to me all in writing. The idea that the parts didn't have a Mopar warranty would never have crossed my mind. I'm glad I asked for it in writing now.

It seems plain crazy that the dealer wouldn't stand behind this. I still believe there must be a way to resolve it through Chrysler/Jeep.
