Need Help Identifying This Leak

Recently noticed some pooling on top of the upper intake (UI) cover. There are tell tale signs that moisture is running down from the top of the UI cover and pooling. My best guess is it may be coming from where the EGR tube enters into the UI cover. Does this sound possible?

The other hose connections around the UI cover do not have any moisture on them. I attached a picture that shows the small amount of pooling on the UI cover. I do not have any codes showing either.

Does anyone know if liquid CAN come from the EGR tube? It seems to be coming from that area but I have absolutely no experience with the EGR tube or EGR valve aside from understanding its purpose. Thanks for any assistance.

What is the liquid? Just water? Is it possible your windshield washer nozzle is leaking? A hot pipe in cool humid air could build up some condensation on it I suppose, but I would think the water would be pooling near the EGR not away from it.

The liquid appeared to be oil because it was brownish in color. The liquid didn't have an oily feeling as I had between my fingers so I wasn't convinced it was oil. The amount of liquid was a very small amount so it was difficult to assess it. On the UI cover there is a darker area around the area of the EGR tube and it gets lighter in color the closer it is to the firewall.

I checked the nozzle for the washer fluid and it is dry. I used a flashlight and didn't see any leaks on the engine. I do have a minor radiator leak which weeps at the bottom of the radiator but the radiator cap, overflow tank hose all were dry & didn't have any signs of a leaks.

Thanks for the response

Judging purely based off your description of the liquid and the picture. I can see that between the intake runners in those 'dips' are dirty compared to the rest of the intake. Water, and dirt can easily pool there as there is no run off. I would think that because there is no oily consistency to it; that all you're seeing is a combination of dirt and water sitting in areas water can't easily run off from. No liquid runs through that EGR pipe, it just re-circulates some exhaust gasses back in. I would suspect it is nothing more than road spray getting up there and sitting in the areas it can't drain from. Clean the intake manifold off really well and monitor it to see any changes. If it was an oily consistency I would suspect a possible PCV issue.

Thanks for the advice CzerOne. I'll just keep an eye on it to see if there are any changes.
