Need something to use as steps for the wife and also side protection. I would also not like to sacrifice the ground clearance I've made with my 2.5 lift and 315s. I am digging the Rock Hard Tubulars $413 with soup on code
Rock slide Engeneering. Their rock slider with built in motorized stead is solid. When closed a sold rock slider. I've tried it several times. When you open a door, the step motors down. Good sold step. Can get for 2 or 4 door. Direct from the, or Quadratec.com. As an option there is a LED lights get strip for the inside. All not the cheapest but I thought no well worth the money.
Hey Aqua - Ive not dealt with 4wd, but Northridge 4x4 has them on hand (at least they did when I ordered mine). They price match too. Depending on where you are location, might save you sales tax.
Check around and try to find the ace in stock. They're quality made in the USA stuff. I ended up selling mine last year as I figured out I needed rock protection more than a step. My kids can clamor up in the jeep with Evo sliders, but they suck as a step. Best sliders out there though.
No offense to the Barricade product. I like it a lot, but I would like to support our US companies. Especially these awesome family owned businesses. I'm stuck between the Rock Hard and the Ace slider.
Rock Hard, I like they're up higher, but that could be bad for my wife. The Ace sliders I've read will dirty up the pantaloons, but guessing the Rock Hard will too. I will come down to price and availability. Would like to hear more testimonials. Thanks again guys and gals!
Aqua, I dont know if anyone here has them, but Rock Hard does have a downward angle slider. I dont know what if anything it takes from height (still be taller than the bottom of your frame) but it WOULD help the wife.
I actually like the downward step/sliders a lot. Looking at the pics it doesn't seem it changes clearance. I think these will work well for step in and out. Is Rock Hard a vendor lol
I dont know if RockHard 4x4 is a vendor here, but they do read the forum, and they WILL take care of you. I get my RH4x4 hardware from Northridge (free shipping). Northridge has earned and keeps my business, I dont even shop around hardly at all.
Bought my Ace sliders from Northridge here in Washington. They were in stock and I got them within a couple days. Wife is 5'3" and loves them as a step. Added some grab handles as well and now I have a happy wife aka happy life!
I also must say I prefer the 3 bolt design simplicity of the Barricade and Ace vs Rock Hard extra reinforcement to the lower body panels. Living in the rust belt it will be easier to keep clean #1 and #2 quicker and easier to take off for any needed touch ups.
Do you want it strong or not? I have come down on mine countless times with no problems. The problem with mounting them to the frame only is that the body mounts flex so it's not uncommon for the pinch seams to actually hit the rails and dent the seams, which is why connection at both points IMO is far better.
Sliders came in ok. The hardware busted loose, but all of it is there. Amazingly it didn't make it out the holes FedEx created in the box. Only one spot on the bottom of one rail lost some powdercoat to the metal. I'll have to touch that up before rust sets in around here. These things are heavy and I can see them taking a beating.
If they had decal in black font only Id put it on my rig. I actually have the red and white ones on either rock rail. Im just trying to keep all decals on the body in black.
Bought the oil pan skid plate on line and will be shopping for sliders at EJS. Rockhard seems like solid stuff to me. After many years of CJ's, a TJ and 2 LJ's now on second JKU this one a Rubi, a whole new world of stuff out there. Thanks Rockhard.
Have you received that skid yet? Youll be VERY happy. But have an extra set of arms available to help get that thing installed. Its everything, and then some, that I wanted early Sunday morning.
I just cant comment enough how quality those products are. I truly am awestruck, theyre tired of hearing it Im sure.

I still have factory skids. I won't be rock crawling or doing hardly any rough terrain so for now I'm good. I need bumpers next and I'm liking the Stubby Prerunner bumper.
I would have gone with RH bumper but they didn't make a mid width with a recessed winch at the time, I'm not sure if they do now. I ended up going with LoD.
Check out rock slide engineering. I got them for 400 shipped from morris 4x4 center. I had these on my 07 jku and it held up to a 40 mph tbone
