New 2011 Steering controls quit

Anyone else have issues with 2011 steering controls.. Everything quit yesterday, was working fine for the 2 months I have owned my new Jeep. I called the dealer - they said he has not heard of people having issues, but to bring it in and they will look at it.. I love my Jeep - hopefully this will be the only thing thast goes wrong. I kinda wish I would have went with the 2010 - mountain now . .

Hi, thanks- I just went out to get some gas. bumped the steering column with my leg- the controls work... I believe they are right - some kind of wiring connector in the column . I am taking it in either today or next week for them to check it out...

Pull fuses

Howdy. I'm not comfortable under the hood, other than to fill the windshield washer fluid. I read on another forum how someone pulled all the fuses & it fixed the issue. After studying the fuse descriptions and locations in the users guide I figured it might be the M13 fuse (it wasn't). I pulled and re-inserted about 2/3 of the "minor" fuses, starting at the far side of the box. I didn't touch the fuses that looked "more involved" if you will. Sure enough, after about 10 minutes with the provided fuse puller, I tried the steering wheel buttons again & the issue was fixed. I didn't replace any of the fuses, just pull them out (1 at a time) & put the same fuse back in...Good luck!

My damn steering wheel electronics went out last night on my 11 wrangler... Guess I gotta take it in. Hopefully the dealer doesn't drag man!

I've read so many threads on this issue that it makes me wonder how reliable the 2011 steering wheel controls are. Hope you get the problem resolved, but for now I'm glad I have a 2010 with no steering wheel electronics.

"Beat it like it owes you money"...

Adding to the validity of roxbury29's post regarding bumping it with a leg..I read on another thread where several folks were successful giving the wheel a whack or two, or as it was worded: "Beat it like it owes you money". That would have been a bit easier in my case, than pulling fuses. Perhaps not a permanent fix, but may be permanent enough to get you to the next time it needs to go in for service.

The controls in our 2 week old 2011 stopped working a few days ago and sure enough the "Beat it like it owes you money" trick worked the first time. It was already going back to the dealer for them to finish the UCOnnect install so hopefully they can fix the harness issue it so I dont have to beat on my new Jeep to get things to work.

Hi, so far that was the only time they had quit working. I will have the dealer take a look when I have my first maintenance done in a few weeks or so..
THe oly thing that worries me, is how reliable they will be in years to come

Same thing happened on my 11. Took the advice I read out there to smack the wheel real hard at the 2 o'clock position and it worked. I just had to lol that it worked. If it stops again I'll take it to the dealer.

I'm more pissed that all of the functionality said to be in the touch screen will not be there until they relase the next software update; total bs selling something at a given price when it doesn't do what it says. Would be nice if all the Sirius data (sports scores, movie times, gas prices, etc.) showed like it is supposed to! Not sure how you charge for something that out right doesn't exist.
